When you have a guy like Randy Moss, it is as simple as telling him to go deep and throw it up there, because he out ran and out jumped everyone on the field by a mile. Not to mention Randall Cunningham, Robert Smith, and 3 Pro Bowl offensive linemen. I agree with most of that, but I don't hold Baltimore against him as much because he was the HC and not the coordinator. Of course he had a big part of planning the offense and whatnot, but I dont hold good coordinators 100% responsible for their known side of the ball not performing as well when they get a HC job. RE: Mike Mularkey HIGH on Broncos Head Coaching List
Brian Billick did call the plays for the Ravens when he coached them, so it was his offense entirely. He also took part in the process of bringing players in and utilizing them as well.
Just like people blame Brian Van Gorder for any defensive woes you see with the Falcons, people fail to realize that Mike Smith IS a defensive coach and he takes part in building the defensive scheme as well. He brought in Brian Van Gorder because they share similar mindsets and ideas for a defense. Bill Belichick does the defense with the Patriots entirely, even though he has a defensive coordinator as well. Don't get me wrong, I like Brian Billick, but all to often people think coordinators who worked with a Ferrari a few years and had impressive numbers will be able to replicate that anywhere. I don't really see Brian Billick turning Michael Jenkins into a Chris Carter. |

I didn't know he called the plays there too, so I stand corrected. I do agree he had possibly the most dangerous offense of all time and that would inflate anyone's rep. But also, the Ravens had close to zero explosive talent whle he was there. Jamal Lewis was it. We are far closer to Minnesota than Baltimore talent-wise on offense. If MIN was a 10 and BAL was a 0, then I would say we are a solid 7. If we got (in theory) 70% of that 98 Viking offense, than we would be in good shape IMO.

If he leaves, so be it, someone will get an opportunity to step in... not a big deal imho.

RE: Mike Mularkey HIGH on Broncos Head Coaching List
i'd really like kubiak to be our OC, but i think he'll probably get another HC gig somewhere. i'd like musgrave too.
mcdaniels is a great offensive mind, but he's not a great fit for this team. his offenses utilize the TE even less than mularkey's pre-tony gonzalez and they also tend to be pretty pass happy (turner? snelling?). ryan and roddy would put up some crazy numbers though.
