Mike Mularkey HIGH on Broncos Head Coaching List

RE: Mike Mularkey HIGH on Broncos Head Coaching List
I think Musgrave gets the job. Billick has a ring, he's not going to take an OC position.

I like the idea of Musgrave. He comes from a WCO background, which I think matches Matt's talents.

I have been as critical of Mularkey as anyone, and I've been pleasantly surprised the last 2 months with the playcalling.

That said, I would like to see more out of our passing game. The nearly constant curls and out routes pretty much mean that we never get any YAC, thus lack the ability to get big plays. There was a fantastic fade to HD and we will occasionally run a skinny post, but you have to admit they are few and far between. I just want to see more passes where the reciever is a threat to take it down the field. I think Musgrave may add that dynamic.

You mean like the direct snap to Johnson yesterday on 3rd and 2 that netted a first down. Oh wait, never mind...Dodgy

Those asking for MM to go need to be careful. You'll get what you ask for and the grass isn't always greener on the other side. There is something to be said for stability and is one of the reasons this team is 11-2 right now. It's been almost the EXACT same coaching staff for 3 seasons now.

I don't know... On one hand with the talent we have on offense we CAN blow out other teams. There shouldn't be as many 3 and outs as we have had in the past two games.

On the other hand, we are 11-2. The guy clearly did a good job scheming against a few teams we played this year.

Atlanta Falcons and GSU Panthers fan.
Red and Black since 1986.
Blue and White since 2010.

This. Continuity is the KEY to building a legendary franchise. MM has done a great job since hes been here and it would be a shame to see him move on for a HC job in the offseason.

I do NOT want Musgrave taking over as OC, period, if MM does decide to take a HC job. We need someone that is a proven winner with their scheme at the NFL level. We will be in a position to pick and choose, based on the success we have had these past three years. I hope MM stays, but if he doesnt, I think TD and Smitty will make the best choice moving forward.

I found it amusing, even in this game. Any time we did something good, go Ryan/Roddy/Turner/etc. Any time we did something bad, instant Mularkey fail.

My favorite is when we lined up and the Panthers were showing blitz on the left side, Ryan backs up and says KILL KILL(which is "killing" the current play and checking down into a run), resets and hands the ball to Turner off tackle away from the blitz. Turner gets stuffed and everyone is immediately on the OMG MULARKEY SUCKS!11 lemming chirping.

Kill Kill is not always checking into a run. They call 2 plays in the huddle. If Ryan sees that the defense is not showing what he needs to run the first play - he'll yell Kill Kill - to go to the other play rather than calling the entire play.

I meant in the context of that particular play.

Look up the Ravens offense when Brian Billick was running the show there...

When I say look up... I mean go to the record books for his years there and scroll to the bottom of the rankings... because that's where they were.

Roddy and Jenkins can certainly be utilized within Billick's system...hell, it might even make Jenkins a better receiver! Plus, you got other potentials in Douglas and Meier who can benefit from all the attention those two will get...my thing is this, my only gripe with Mularkey was his lack for creativity. Billick can draw up excellent routes...he can get it done with all the weapons we have on offense.

I'm just saying Billick's only good year with an offense was when he had two HOF WRs involved, Randy Moss probably the single most talented WR ever to play the game. When you have a guy like Randy Moss, it is as simple as telling him to go deep and throw it up there, because he out ran and out jumped everyone on the field by a mile. Not to mention Randall Cunningham, Robert Smith, and 3 Pro Bowl offensive linemen.

What did he do without an all-world squad of offensive players at his disposal? Like from years 1999 to 2007? He didn't do a damn thing; his offenses stunk. Anyone can drive real fast if you put them in a Lamborghini. Same thing goes with Mike Martz and his days with Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, and that monster offensive
