RE: Mike Mularkey: ‘We are not going to panic’
I really hope we see a 30 yard down the middle pass to somebody. Whether we complete it or not, I want to see the effort.

Just a few points short of 10th last year, with all the injuries and ridiculous schedule difficulty.

I think it's safe to say that his offensive system isn't trash.

The thing is, it isn't Mularkey's offense that got those stats, it's the talent thats on the field. The plays we ran are still the same ole dink-n-dunk vanilla conservative plays. But our OLine & Ryan aren't given enough credit. Even by many people on this board.

What sux is, we have so much talent, it's just completely underwhelming because it's so improperly utilized.

If we were a pass-first run offense & aired it out like the Saints, Packers, or Texans, I guarantee you our run-game would actually end up with more yardage than it does now as a run-first offense. We could put up 4500 yards passing & force teams to stack the secondary against us & that would open up run plays for Turner & especially Norwood like crazy. It would add 1-2 yards to their YPC average.

We need a new OC. Can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm getting disenchanted with the run-first vanilla conservative scheme.

RE: Mike Mularkey: ‘We are not going to panic’
We hardly have the offensive line or receiver depth to be a 3-4 WR set every play kinda team like the Colts, Patriots, or Saints either. Did anyone not watch the Steelers game? Did anyone not see just how often our line was being blown backwards off the LOS?

We simply lack talent on the line. Our line over achieves, not under.

Funny, the game I saw there was 7-8 rushers & half the time our OLine was blocking 2 guys each.

We have a top 10 OLine, you're crazy if you think otherwise. This same OL gave up only 17 sacks & allowed Turner to get 1700 yards when it was healthy in 08.

Calm down. The Falcons are a power running team. They're going to lose against teams that stop the run unless the F.O. wants to go get some WRs to spread defenses out and develop their young QB.

RE: Mike Mularkey: ‘We are not going to panic’
Look, I can understand yall perfectly well when you say you hate Mularkey. I am fine with people not liking our offensive philosophy and scheme. I am totally fine with people wanting him fired because they dont like our offense, whether they dont like it "just recently" or havent liked it even in 08 and 09.

What I am NOT fine with, is people throwing aside facts and just bashing our OC because of one of the reasons above. If youre going to just bash him because you can, and dont like him or or the way our offense has worked for going on THREE years, dont try to discredit how successful this offense has been since he was hired. Dont toss aside facts in favor of emotional opinions.

All this nonsense like: "This is a pass first league, we have to be like the Colts or Saints", "There are no downfield routes in any of his plays", "He is too conservative", "He doesnt know how to utilize our talents"; thats just not the complete truth and some of it is a downright lie. Just say you dont like power running ball control offenses. Thats all you have to do.

Stating things that arent true only make sensible people want to dispute your claims, whether they agree with your opinion or not. It causes unnecessary arguments and probably gives people, like me, the wrong idea about exactly why you think we need a new OC. At this point, I just assume everyone that wants Mularkey gone, without presenting facts backing up their opinion, simply want gaudy passing numbers and high scores.
