I agree!!! ^^

and why does this sound so skeptical....

"We are just going to continue to try to get better and hopefully when we have drives, when we get one going it flows on from there."

I'm not saying act like Rex Ryan, but my lawd man, at least come off like your confident you can do something....

He's just a question asker, don't let him bother you. He doesn't know how to debate an issue any other way than to just ask questions, and then ask for precise reasons for those answers, and then ask you to do astronomical research to provide precise points and then ask for a mathematical breakdown of why, and then ask....well you get the point...he just ask

true story^

Q: How do you rip the top off of defenses with the safeties dropping back. How do you get that play, that vertical play . . . (Ray Glier, freelance, New York Times and AOL)

A: It’s hard when defenses try to keep everything in front of them. What they try to do is make you sustain long drives where you can’t have an explosive play on them. They are waiting for you to make a mistake within those long drives. The one thing we’ve got to do is we have to get to the redzone and have a chance to have some plays down there where we don’t have to throw a long ball or a deep ball or a long run to score. We understand that kind of philosophy and we understand that we can’t afford to mistakes that we are capable of preventing ourselves, self-inflicted wounds is what we say.

This pretty much tells me that he is scared to call an attack game with our offense.^^^^

Like are you kidding me Mularkey...Let's run and hide to the endzone so we don't have to throw long to score. LOL...JUST THROW LONG PERIOD you arrogant fool.

Your Barbie doll playcalling is preventing this team from being successful, not taking shots and being aggressive on the field.

I just cannot handle this guy. He's gets under my skin so bad....and this article is pure shit, and I'm glad someone finally asked him in a round about way about some of our problems, because his round about answers confirmed my suspicions.

RE: Mike Mularkey: ‘We are not going to panic’
Every time you see Ryan audible and change the play to a simple hand off (usually off tackle), you know that Mularky has just sent in a play that Ryan has decided will not work or is down right dangerous. This scenario has played out a lot lately. Now is this Ryan being too conservative or is Mularky full of beans? Maybe a little of both, but given Ryan's relative success in the no-huddle, I would bet on the Mularky beans. I say let Ryan call the plays during the entire first quarter one of these days and see what happens. It can't be any worse than what we have seen.

One other point: Watching a football game is supposed to be entertaining. Too often watching the Mularky offense gets kinda boring. I dread the Falcons winning some games despite Mularky and getting stuck with even more of the same. The coaches can get on the Atlanta crowds if they want, but a better approach to getting fans involved is to play more inspiring football. There is nothing more exciting than a wide receiver or running back running with the ball in the secondary, but Mularky's offense robs us of the chance to see that happen unless a running play happens to break open.

A: There is nothing that says throw it to Roddy this many times or Tony (Gonzalez) this many times. Really, who’s open and we are going to throw it to that spot. Really the defense dictates where the ball goes. It’s going to continue to be that way. If Roddy is the guy, Roddy is the guy. It may be somebody else this year.

Bad choice of words right there.

I think he's trying to protect his quarterback.

For those that don't think he attacks defenses. There's usually a deep option on every play. I wonder if the offense comes alive who will get credit

You caught that, too, huh? The part I bolded concerned me even more than the last part! I mean, it's true to an extent, but I was watching some breakdowns of some plays the Jaguars were running last night, and I'm just not convinced that you can't confuse, distract, and FORCE the Defense to make a choice on which receiver they are going to defend. Maybe he is doing that (Gawd, I hope I get to go to some Dome games this year) but I don't SEE it. If we were running designed plays, such as I saw last night, we would have a lot more than 2-3 plays after a game, where we could say "Player X was wide open.... why didn't Matt throw to him?" You don't see that so much, so, and while some of it may be Matt, it just doesn't seem like the scheme is trying hard enough to get the opposition off balance.

Seriously, does this team have that many scrubs on offense? I know we're hurting a BIT at WR, but we have some smart, talented guys on the field. I don't think it's beyond them to learn the stuff I was looking at last night, for example.

I bolded the operative word in your post.

10th in scoring in 08, 6th in total yards.

Just a few points short of 10th last year, with all the injuries and ridiculous schedule difficulty.

I think it's safe to say that his offensive system isn't trash.

RE: Mike Mularkey: ‘We are not going to panic’
The way he answers questions is the same way he approaches his role as OC. Conservative.

I'd just like us to FORCE our will upon a defense, not 'wait and see what they give us'. Take the damn yards forcefully!

Yaa the numbers WERE pretty then but its going downhill fast. This is going to be a early Do or Die game for the falcons and Mularkey, because if we can't throw some serious points on the board against the Cards, what can we do against the Saints? Confused
