In the year in which they led the league in passing, right?

There would have been conspiracy theories abound from the Vickies had Schaub gotten to start even after Vick was released.. They had to get rid of him. Vick then sealed his fate.. now they are both playing well.. Vick and Schaub.. im happy for both of them but i wish we could have at least gotten something for Vick

Schaub was traded before Vick left. Had the problem occurred with Vick beforehand - we wouldn't have traded him.

Why can't we just be happy we have a smart, competitive, hard working winning QB who is still learning and getting better and finding ways to win while he's at it instead of constantly comparing him to 7th, 8th and 15th year QBs all the time and trying to basically say he's not as good?

Seriously, I will take his winning percent and yards per year over Schaub's any day.

I think we ARE happy with a smart competitive, hard working QB . . . .

Today was a good day for former Falcon QB's (except Farrrrvvrrrreeeeaaa) I was going to comment on Vick's performance today in the game chat, but I knew it would sound political, so I abstained. But nothing wrong with giving the guys some credit.

Giving the guys some credit is fine - even Vick - and it was mentioned in chat quite a few times - don't think anyone had a problem.

But, seems like this is what we see so much.

Ryan - has a good day and beats Detroit. It was Detroit - let's not judge him too quick til we see how he does against _________. Input whichever team the comment maker feels is a decent team.

Vick - has a good day and beats Detroit. He looked fantastic - they should make him the starter.

Ryan - beats the snot out of the team today - has a 117+ QB rating - 3 touchdowns, no interceptions and got our revenge for that playoff loss: Wow - Matt Schaub threw for 497 yards today - think Ryan will ever do that?

Sorry - it just doesn't seem like he can satisfy many of our fans as a QB. If he has a poor outing - he's a noodle arm, regressing, stares down his receivers, can't throw. If he wins convincingly and has a great day - Ryan looked good today - think he'll ever be as good as _________. Input whichever player had more yards today.

You can argue these points all day long - but facts are facts - and this is what happens all the time on AFMB (since we haven't been here long enough).

It's like the Steelers - I'm not sure if half our fans actually watched that game. Ryan played damn well with pathetic protection and threw 1 interception to arguably the leagues single best defensive player. Yet, he was crucified and there were even conspiracy theories about him being "doubted", etc.

Those who argued that the Steelers are one of the most dominant defenses in the league except last year when they were riddled with injury and dropped to what - 5th? were accused of taking up for him.

I don't really have to argue this much - you can just go back and read all the threads from last week.

The kid is young and learning - but he's held to higher standards than most of the QBs that have been around this league for years. It just baffles me.

I'm quoting this because this is all that needs to be said.

It shouldn't. Too many of our fans are cynical douchebags who are always looking for a reason to tear the team down.

Not saying that about the threadstarter here -- I'm just saying the things you complain of happen every year. I remember thinking it was racial when Vick was the QB, but it's not that nearly so much as it's a bunch of people so jaded by losing that they cannot bear the thought we might win. I still remember it was 2/3 the way through the 1998 season before people in this city started talking about this team being really good. And some folks would rather be cynical douchebags than to believe in something and be disappointed. It's sad if you really think about it.

That's good to hear because in no way I was trying to compare Ryan and Shaub or complain about anything. I just posted his because 497 yards is a ton of yards!

No, I got that. But I also understand why Tandy thought you were doing just that. Too many other folks do it all the time.
