He has continually showed progress over the course of his career. He is a student of the game and that's just something that no level of talent can make up for. He will do his homework, fix areas of his game that he sees flawed, and he will come back as a better player for the Falcons. If nothing else, that is something that we can all look forward to going into next season. I dont think from a stat standpoint Ryan will have a better season then he did this year ...Ryan had a very very good season from stat standpoint his td/int ratio plus solid yards .. Ryan threw 28 tds only 9 ints Threw for 3700 yards thing is Ryan threw 571 pass attempts...thats alot but the YPA was down .. I think this will be Ryan best season stats wise ..or his most effective .. Its not about numbers no more with Ryan or regular season wins it about what he and team can do in playoffs ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Whats the point? You continue saying you're a fan of 25+ years, yet for some reason you've recently become a GB fan wearing a falcons jersey is how i see it. You spout all the GB greatness that aaron rodgers is, but you cant just make that all "go away" because you're wearing falcon apparel. Dude it does get super annoying when every single post you've pushed has some Aaron link to it. Sure you can say Aaron is great and all but sometimes you need to relax with it. I'm all for allowing people to speak about whatever they want, but when you're pretty much shoving your GB homerism you seriously may need to reconsider your falcon fan hood. Maybe its time to end that 25+ year falcon fandom and move yourself to the GB boards and start a new. Shoot they just won a superbowl i'm more than sure they'd welcome you as apart of the GB fanbase. If you wanna stay great, i enjoy everyone here but time to consider a change of scenery. Sorry but thats how i'm seeing it. -ROCK CHALK!!! |

Rodgers is a great QB. But i don't go around saying Aaron rodgers this Aaron that. I know its just straight up nice to know my limits to people so they don't get pissed off. Whats the point in pissing people off? There's no reason. I appreciate all the NFL players who are great and have proven themself, but when you go to a Forum dedicated to Falcons that had to branch off from the "main/official" board because of overflow of Trolls and crap management of the board, its nice to know we're all here because we LIKE talking about our teams in a better light without the crap like you're pulling now. Doesn't mean we just say everything is great and perfect because we're falcon fans, but we can all be objective to how the team is going forward. Shoot there are other members on this board that would agree and say we need weapons and a better system for Matt. You just go off and say Matt sucks compared Aaron Rodgers...so yeah Aaron rodgers. <-- That is just a paraphrase of what you usually say. Point is, you need to lay off this High-horse mentality because you've been a "fan" for 25 years. It doesn't give you credit, just shows how petty you are to try and feel superior/better then everyone. If you wanna keep talking about Falcon topics go ahead, just trust me when i say you're pissing a lot of people off, and sooner (there's no later) you're gonna have no place you really can come to where you're welcomed to talk about this Org. Rant ended about swift. -ROCK CHALK!!! |

Rodgers is the best QB in the league today. I think that the OP's post is on target and is simply saying that Ryan is pretty damn good. Given the growth that all QB's have, it would be reasonable to project Ryan as an up and coming great. Hate all you want. The future is coming right at you. |

(02-08-2011 10:47 AM)TheDirtyWord Wrote: Yeah...I do think it's obvious that Rodgers is better than Ryan at the moment. I don't think anyone would argue. Rodgers may stay better than Ryan too...what he showed last season and this season was pretty special. However, he's not going to win the next 12 Super Bowls, so let's not give up all hope yet. Yes, Ryan definitely needs to get back closer to the 7.9 Y/A and 13.0 Y/C form that he displayed in 2008. Anyone who watched Ryan during that season and isn't pushing an adgenda knows he fully possesses the arm strength to get the ball downfield when the situation warrants it. So, what happened between then and now? I believe Ryan's deep ball issues stem largely from a conscious decision on his part to look early and often for the short to intermediate routes. Not really surprising for a developing QB who, for the last two seasons, has had a TE as his #2 receiver, an O-line that hasn't given him much time to let deep routes develop and a desire to play as mistake-free as possible. Last offseason, Ryan talked about how he studied the top QBs and looked to emulate their ability to take what the defense gives. I have faith that Ryan will focus this offseason on regaining his timing and confidence in situations that require him to go over the top. |

Fortunately, Swift's preschool level grammar skills make the majority of his posts all but illegible to me. So even when he's quoted, his obsessive, convoluted rants don't register more often than not. |

All you've done is strengthened my point. So you are saying that 3 years of holding a clipboard for a HOF QB, had no impact on his current play? Matt did it straight out of college, took a barren team on his shoulders. Aaron Rodgers 6 years in, is only marginally accomplished more than Matt Ryan has in his first 3. Aaron Rodgers finally won a ring 6 years in the league, giving Matt Ryan 3 more seasons to accomplish it. You are comparing apples to oranges. Aaron Rodgers could have come to this team and failed miserably, and vice versa. There are too many variables in play to compare the 2 fairly. Right now Rodgers has the edge because he has a ring. That completely changes if Ryan gets one next year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3CXS04cy...re=related |

RE: Matt Ryan's Three Year Progress Report
(02-08-2011 11:19 AM)Swift Is a Die Hard Wrote: See I think that is where everyone is getting caught up . TD brought in Tony G who was a pro bowl TE and he brought in Turner who has been one of the better rbs in league us he drafted Harry Douglas as well to play slot. That's weapons if you ask me figure that Packers played without there rb and TE all year basically. Jordy Nelson is 3rd option in that offense and Jenkins is 3rd option and the numbers are equal . There is bringing in weapons and then there is bringing in the right weapons. Now as far as Tony G. goes, while his hands are still reliable, he should now be considered slow...even by TE standards. And quite frankly, it seemed that with Gonzo in tow, the offense morphed to accomodate his abilities which included reliability in the short-to-intermediate area. Gonzo formed a bond/connection with Ryan and as such, Ryan felt confident in going his way. In developing this aspect of his game though, there was noone to exploit coverages downfield. To term Harry Douglas as a weapon, is a demonstration of lack of understanding of the term. He hasn't produced although it hasn't been entirely his fault. But he showed none of the promise this year, that he showed in 2008. As for Turner, no one is debating how good he is...but he does nothing in the passing game. And to our point about the Rodgers and his TE, his TE is actually Jermichael Finley, and even with his #1 TE out, the Packers only accounted for 169 fewer yards and 3 less TD's from that position. Granted he was injured in Week 5, but that goes to show you simply how deep GB was from a skill position (WR/TE) area. He had a reliable vet, and two up-and-coming WR's...one of which many people on this board covet. One last point on this...GB receivers averaged 5.88 YAC in 2010. The Falcons? 3.75...2.13 yards less/completion. That is a HUGE delta. So...there is absolutely no valid argument that can state that Ryan has what Rodgers has. Does Ryan's WR corps need to go 4 deep? No...but it does need to be able to provide RAC ability |

When a QB has talent they have talent regardless sitting 3 years is irrelevant shit it could be looked as a mistake in all regards cause Rodgers clearly has the talent to play QB position .So while sitting behind a QB has its advantages from studying film and preparation those hav always been Matt Ryan strong point there is no knock on him about that . Rodgers could have been more successful and maybe have 2 rings by now if he started early problem lies GB had a HOF legend in front of him . I think the age /years played argument is quite foolish imo...case in point Josh Freeman had a better 2nd year then Ryan ..is anyone here including me going to say Freeman is better then Ryan cause his 2nd year he had a better season ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB .
