Matt Ryan's Three Year Progress Report

RE: Matt Ryan's Three Year Progress Report
Yeah...I do think it's obvious that Rodgers is better than Ryan at the moment. I don't think anyone would argue. Rodgers may stay better than Ryan too...what he showed last season and this season was pretty special. However, he's not going to win the next 12 Super Bowls, so let's not give up all hope yet.

What I will say though in your defense, is that for my money, I still believe Ryan's best season came his rookie year. The best game I've seen him play was the loss in New Orleans in 2008. Whatever, you want to blame it on; 1) Ryan's own career progressions, 2) offensive scheme, 3) offensive weapons...the one area of Ryan's game that has regressed is his ability to push the ball downfield on a consistent basis. As a rookie, this was not the case.

So when you compare him to Rodgers, who is amongst the best at this...Ryan obviously looks inferior. And if you cancel White/Jennings, you also see that Rodgers simply has more weapons at his disposal.

Ask yourself this question: Would you rather have Jordy Nelson or Michael Jenkins? Me - I'd rather have Nelson and he's GB's #4 WR.

I do believe Ryan needs to step up. It can't be about incremental steps anymore. He has to put the downfield passing ability he showed in 2008 together with the proper decision making and poise he showed in 2010 together to take his game to the next level. But I also believe the Falcons have failed him in providing him with the type of weapons that could have and can make this possible...which is why this off-season is critical in that regard.

This right here is the truth. The team has been developing a lot of stuff on the fly and done a good job. Matt and his mentors are raising him up well. But the deep ball aspect of his game has been ignored. I do not think it has been removed because he can't or because he wont but it something he has but needs to refine and soon. As far as offense is concerned he definitely needs more weapons to help this along

RE: Matt Ryan's Three Year Progress Report
See I think that is where everyone is getting caught up . TD brought in Tony G who was a pro bowl TE and he brought in Turner who has been one of the better rbs in league us he drafted Harry Douglas as well to play slot. That's weapons if you ask me figure that Packers played without there rb and TE all year basically. Jordy Nelson is 3rd option in that offense and Jenkins is 3rd option and the numbers are equal .

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

Is there an actual way to ignore people? I would LOVE to ignore the poster above me, whose name doesn't deserve to be mentioned. Although it's funny, since my work blocked AFT, I have spent alot of time on AFMB and I have not seen said poster over there. I wonder why.

I think Matt Ryan is a great QB. Back in the 70's/80's/early 90's, Matt Ryan would have been considered elite. However, in todays game that has evolved to become so pass happy, he's not putting up 4,000 yards passing, he's not getting 40 TD's, so he simply isn't "good enough" to some people.

Despite the facts presented by the OP of this thread, you are indicting our QB as a failure off 2 games.

2 games where our defense totally collapsed, and our running game was stifled, and our best recievers smothered. There isn't a QB in this league we could have put behind center that would have changed the outcome of the Green Bay Game. They never punted.

There is a great chance that if Keith Brooking had stopped the TE on 3 & !6 against the Cards, Matt would have very likely driven us down the field to win the game.

13 game winning drives, several in critical games that pushed us closer to clinch winning season, or playoff birth, and you say he can't win big games. It's ridiculous the amount of unwarranted hate you bring on certain players on this team.

If you are so enamored with Rodgers, by all means, put a block of cheese on your head, and join the Packer bandwagon, and please get the hell off our boards. Although I'm sure it won't last long before you start criticizing him too. The guy has been in the league for 2 years longer and doesn't have a significant amount more yards, or TDs, and around the same number of INTs as Matt does. He finally got a ring, but Matt has 2 years, to match that, if that is the criteria you are basing it on.

Just be happy with who our QB is, shut the fuck up, or leave.

Yeah, all you do is click on the user's name. This will bring up a view of their page where one of the options is "Add to Ignore List" (Directly under the signature section). Bam, no more posts from users you may disagree with (cleaned that up for Peyton).

I've had Swift on ignore since he joined. The problem is, he hijacks so many threads you can't avoid or ignore him. His posts are quoted, which still show up and threads tend to go off on ridiculous tangents once he gives his input. The dude isn't just a troll, he's a virus.

Paulitik

Our QB is not a failure by any means just a disappointment in his 2 biggest games and was outplayed by the great Aaron Rodgers while Rodgers had a depleted squad and Ryan healthy squad in our building . Ryan will never be in the same breathe as Rodgers but you guys shouldn't take that as a insult some players are just more talented then others . So I'm glad to have Ryan I was one of the very select that wanted him here I do see some flaws in his game and his short comings that might stop him from being on the level of the TRULY GREAT ones . Ryan is young and still got ton of room for improvement and development but there could be that chance his ceiling has been hit you can only do so much with god given talent or lack there of .

I don't understand if you have someone on ignore but respond to there post why bother damm just wasted my time responding to a person who has me on ignore . If you don't like what I have to say that's cool . No need to go on personal attack I don't do that to anyone here I'm just here to discuss how I see things as this franchise and a fan for 25+ years this is basically same majority of fan base when I killed Vick for his work ethic and his play I was called a racist hater .
