Maybe it's just me but I trust his opinion far more than any of us guessers around here. I think he knows a thing or two about playing the QB position in the NFL.

Ryan and Mularkey fell in love with the short intermediate passing game cause it was effective . It controlled clock picked up first downs and kept chains moving and defense off the field..

Getting YAC also depends on the QB you do know that ..(IM PRAYING)

what makes GB system so successful is the accuracy of such QB and to put a ball into tight spots .. It also has alot to do with scheme and route design

so are you trying to say Paulitk you think a change at OC needs to be made for Ryan to finally grow into his position or you happy with Mularkey ?

It's a hassle to find real content worth a damn anymore.

This place is an embarrassment right now. Look at the first page of threads, it's a freaking joke.

You want to see Ryan progress into the Elite category?? Then the Falcons need to do 2 things on the offensive side of the ball.

1) Get another playmaking receiver either at TE or WR that can get separation and YAC. This in turn will open up others to do the same because they can't double White or they will get burned.

2) Fix the O-line blocking. You can't throw down field reliably if you don't have the time in the pocket. Right now Ryan gets blasted if he tries to wait on a deep route most times.

That is the takeaway I got after compiling these numbers. I found it interesting how some HOF QBs started putting up insane fantasy stats right out of the gate, while others spent the first half of their careers playing in the CFL, USFL and/or toiling as a backup. Yet, in the end, they all ended up in Canton.

Some here tend to overlook the fact that, since about halfway through his rookie season, it has been fully expected of Ryan to win games first, develop as a QB second. Ryan doesn't receive a steady influx of no-pressure garbage time air-it-out sessions to hone his downfield passing skills as some other highly-drafted young QBs do during their first few years in the league. Just about every single game that Ryan has played in so far has had playoff implications. How can anyone really blame him if his first priority is to refine his decision making and short-game accuracy so that he puts his team in a position to win as often as possible?

That said, I highly doubt it is lost on Ryan that the next step in his development is bringing back the downfield threat to his game. And knowing what I know about Ryan's work ethic, I would be quite surprised if he doesn't address this issue during the offseason and come out firing darts again in 2011.

I've never been thrilled with Mularkey, and I think he is the #1 reason for our offensive struggles. That said, it's tough to argue with 13-3. I think he has coached Matt to avoid throwing deep, and you can see that in our route tree. We don't scheme for the homerun ball, so it doesn't surprise me that we don't get quick scores very often.

Receivers can't get YAC when they are running curls, hooks and out routes 90% of the time. Turner hasn't been a great receiving back, which hasn't helped either.

That said, the ball control scheme has done us well against many teams.
