Matt Ryan Indoors vs Outdoors ..
Matt Ryan stats indoors / out doors

10' : 3 games : 66 comp /114 atts /689 yards/ 3 tds/ 2 ints

Total : 15 games 310 comp/ 538 atts/ 3424 yards / 19 tds /12 ints

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This past game made me start thinking why is Ryan so effective indoors it seems and when outdoors it seems the whole offense is timid ..

Ryan has had some very good games outside..I can think of the 08' Chargers/Packers game as example but it seems to me he is like 10x better at home and so is our team.

I think it has alot to do with we establish the running game at home better then we do on the road ..Then this opens up the offense better and allows Ryan to do more things and take more shots..

anyone else thoughts

Well, Ryan pays his home games in the Georgia Dome and Ryan is great there!

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

Take away his home games at the Dome and those stats probably change significantly.

7 more pass attempt on road per game is alot ...That is making me thinking we are not establishing the running game on road

RE: Matt Ryan Indoors vs Outdoors ..
I think it has to do with maturing as a team and has more to do with road games than stadium games. Most teams (notice I said most) start out good at home and eventually become good on the road.

There are so many factors that play in - familiarity with the field, the ability to utilize the snap count (many times - they go silent on the road because of the crowd noise) - the noise factor which has scientifically been proven to alter performance - travel itself which takes a toll physically on the body - including hydration - which is why you see more cramps from the road team than the home team - and the quality of the team on the road. Many of our away games have come against teams who were "righting the ship" and came out playing hard at home to set it straight - IE: Dallas, Giants, Jets desperate for a playoff berth, Browns desperate for a win, Steelers without Ben and with something to prove, Eagles - Kolb desperately fighting for his job, Carolina last year - desperate to get back on track.

There are so many reasons for performance differences home/away - but there has never been a doubt that home field 'ADVANTAGE' is a fact. Even Vegas gives an automatic 3 points to the home team.

RE: Matt Ryan Indoors vs Outdoors ..
interesting stuff, but i also think the home/away aspect is a big factor. home field advantage is a big deal, and it takes alot to win on the road. you also have to learn to win on the road.

RE: Matt Ryan Indoors vs Outdoors ..
Congratulations for a fine analysis of home field advantage. Please do a study of the other 31 teams with their O and D stats home and away, plus the W/L percentage and get back with me.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

QB Rating 78.4 ( his worse rating )
