RE: Man, the fans are nearly pathetic right now.
We looked weak for one half of one game, we still looked better or at least on par with many games in 2007, or 2003 or the collapse at the middle or end of the 86 season or or 99 after JA blew his knee out, or several times when the Rams and 49er's trounced us twice a year during the 80's etc.

You lack perspective because you claim to be a long time fan but somehow completely forget this type of stuff. Seriously the first half of the Panthers game looked like a pretty typical game during the 80's and part of the 90's and even some select seasons during this decade.

You just sound like another typical knee jerk fan flipping their shit because we had a bad game. It sucked, it is however not the end all be all and it's not like we laid down for the whole game or anything. Grow a pair please. So fucking tired of fucking babies throwing out "end all be all" statements on a team that is 11-2.

not really true at all, we didn't show up for the Saints game at all, played decent during the Bucs Game, looked less than pedestrian during the Arizona game. Its not really one game at all, and I don;t really see what the Falcons of the 80's have to do with anything at all. Just because we sucked in the past means that we have a license to shit the bed now? "Man, we really fucked that game up but don't worry guys the Falcons sucked in the 80's so its ok!"

The Falcons are obviously only two or three good fans away from being a SB contender!

Read the whole thread. He was responding to KeithBrooking56 calling this loss the worst loss in the history of the Falcons or something close to that.

Oh, yeah, I didn't see that part. Obviously its not the worst loss in the history of the Falcons, I think that spot is reserved for our SB loss or at the very least one of our recent playoff embarrassments.

Incorrect. I never said it was the worst loss. I said we were playing as bad a game as I've ever seen the Falcons play and I stand by that.

You can't be more wrong with that first sentence. Go back and look at the TOP and total yards from the first half of that game and get back to me. We were utterly dominated on the field. We had two 3 and outs on offense and one other drive with one first down and then a 3 and out. Our defense was on the field almost literally the entire half and the only thing that kept the score from a complete blowout was the Panthers inability to score touchdowns and settle for field goals.

As for my "claiming" to be a long time fan I've been a fan since Bartkowski was here. In fact according to my parents "Bartkowski" was one of the first longer words I ever spoke as a baby. I was here long before you. I will probably be here long after you are gone. Calling someone's fanhood in question because they call out a horrible effort from a team that should be much better is asinine.

And as I said before but you ignored so you can act like some tough guy on the internet with profanity laced nonsense I never said it was the end of the season. It was the complete lack of effort that I was calling out and I absolutely will continue to do so if the team does it again.

That's what being a real fan is about. Calling your team to task when the effort isn't there. You might want to check into that before insulting other fans.

And you're standing by it because you're quite stubborn OR what you have "seen" doesn't go beyond this season.

How you could say how we are playing now is as worst or worst than the recent 2007 season with Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich is beyond anybody, but proceed to stand by it. Its ok to admit a knee jerk reaction, it happens to all of us.

It was a tough loss but not one of the worst. This team built a tradition out of having bad losses. I still think the loss in 2011 to the Packers in the playoffs was the worst loss of the Smith/Ryan era. I think we can avenge that by winning in these playoffs.

This isn't supposed to be the "Same Ol' Falcons" any more if you recall. This team under Blank, TD and Smith is supposed to be about putting a championship level team on the field. The effort we saw was simply horrible in the Carolina game.

I've been a fan long enough to see the Falcons have those 3-13 years but those teams usually fought but due to a talent/coaching gap it didn't really matter. That is not the same as just not bothering to show up which I think any fan will admit is what we saw from this team for basically three quarters against Carolina.

I don't know if our boys were looking a week ahead to the Giants but there's no excuse to not show any fight. I can deal with losing like the Saints game where we tried but that debacle against Carolina? I'll call that out every time.

AMEN! That's all I'm saying about the loss too. The season isn't over because of one loss. But the team does deserve to be blasted for the lack of effort put forth on Sunday. Look at the first half numbers again.

Panthers - 270 yards on 45 plays
Falcons - 35 yards on 13 plays

Sorry but that is absolutely terrible. And then on the Panthers first possession of the second half we let Cam Newton run for a 72-yard touchdown?

Total embarrassment. Right up there with the Packers playoff game.
