RE: Where do the Falcons go from here
I think he's reached his peak in this scheme yes..
The Falcons are a running team, most teams in the playoffs are built to stop the run. Our passing game isn't good enough to get it done without a running game period. This type of play will win you regular season games but it won't win you championships. Balance is what we need and balance is what we're sorely lacking.. The Falcons need to either change the offensive scheme or change the defensive scheme... If our D is gonna suck like this then we need to start passing the ball more and become more of a quick strike offense. If we're gonna run, fine run but you better build a dominating defense. |

RE: Who do you blame?

Our Offense can't overcome a 3 score deficit. We really need to consider some wholesale philosophical changes on Offense and Defense. We were capable of beating that team. We have before. We can't handle the spotlight. Mike Smith needs to do something, or end up being the next Leeman Bennett. After that INT, I looked at my husband and said "we're done".. I just knew at that point it was over. |

RE: [MERGED] Complaints, Vents, Questions, about the 2010 Atlanta Falcons
Honestly, I found Matt Ryan's plays the best he could do. O-line allowed pressure, and well you're either gonna get A) Sacked B) Bad pass/throw Interceptions C) Pushed around. Matty can't do what he needs to with what everyone is calling a Vanilla offense and a shotty Oline.
I put blame on the 1) O-line, 2) Defense for NOT getting the sacks and Owens playing like a lost child on the school yard. I put a tiny bit of blame on Smitty because he didn't change Owens out, but I don't know what its like being on that side line watching and calling it live. Again I feel Ryan was the greatest thing to happen for this franchise since I've ever been watching the falcons (Vick's drafting). But for everyone to say he's game managing, how do you think you'd fair with a crap O-line giving you no time what so ever? I will say the one play that pisses me off the most was the Jenkins slip in the endzone. If jenks was able to be up right I think he makes a play on that ball, either grabs it or knocks it down. Either way it wouldn't have been a easy pick. Thats all i have for this Blame Game. I still support what Smitty and TD do, but there's gotta be a change in OC at least. -ROCK CHALK -ROCK CHALK!!! |

Bad things happen when you throw the ball to Michael Jenkins..
I've never gotten the hype over this guy and I never will. High pay, very little production. |

RE: Whose Playoff Loss was worse? Saints or Falcons?
(01-15-2011 11:39 PM)MilleniumFalcon Wrote: This was an ass whoopin so even though the Saints lost to a terrible team... this is worse. The Birds just simply were outplayed by the Packers on both sides of the ball. The coaching was terrible. BVG was schooled on the defensive side of the ball. Several times I heard the statement that BVG couldn't figure out how to defend against Rodgers and the Packers offense. On the offensive side of the ball, Ryan stunk it up pretty good all on his own. 2 INT's one a pick 6. He ran around like a chicken from the farmers wife all night long. He did not even look like he understood the defensive fronts they threw at him, hence the 5 sacks. The O-line could not stop the rush or open holes for Turner and Snelling. The offensive line scheme was just, well, useless against the Packers D. Boudreau did not have the Village Idiots playing like they should have. Unless of course it was MM's game plan that caused them to have amnesia about how to play football. As a side, could MM have been distracted by the coaching interviews in the week before the game? If so, the front office should have set the rules within the organization to prevent this until after the playoffs. I just feel there may have been some loss of focus on his part due to the interest in him as a potential HC for another team. I also think that the coaching staff did themselves a disservice all season long by benching Lewis, Sidbury, and, Owens. Owens showed his loss of skills filling in for Williams. When they needed Owens to play, he was playing Pop Warner on that field against pros. JA55 was obviously hurt the entire game and could not get penetration, create double teams needed to get the DT's in to hurry the QB. KB 71 was absolutely nowhere to be found. Could that be due to his distractions off the field? Seems to me like he was not playing like he should ever since the media grabbed onto the story of him and that cougar. Especially since she advertised the hosting of a parasite with half of his DNA. On the bright side, the Birds went 13-3 this season with some memorable games starting with their win in the Stupid dome. For that I thank them for giving me and others the pride that has been lacking for several years before the new era. I'm sure that next season will also be successful, and, hey, they may even make it to the SB. We will have to wait and see. Lets all hope that the team makes the right choices and addresses personnel needs this off season to players and coaches.... |

RE: Wasted Season

For starters....they were competitive in their games. I'm not mad we lost...I think most rational fans could have dealt with that. That ass whoopin we took last night shows that we were completely unprepared, outcoached, and I hate to say it...not ready for primetime. You can't lose like that and then claim you weren't the frauds that everyone had said you were all season. |
