RE: Who do you blame?

No, what killed our defense was our secondary leaving recievers wide open and Van Gorder calling way off coverage. Even Rodgers could have completed a pass to himself the coverage was so off. Owens might not make the team next season. The tackling was just as bad. |

RE: BVG has to go
I also think it might be time to take a look at defensive coordinator with NFL experience.

RE: Who do you blame?
It's hard to boil it down to one specific person or unit. The team as a whole played horribly on both sides of the ball.
The offensive line was atrocious, Matt Ryan made some stupid decisions, the defense was probably the worst that I've seen them in a few years. I think BVG should be at fault for our defense, but as whole the coaches didn't appear like they had us prepared for this game. On a positive note, these players and coaches did get us to a 13-3 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs. While it was a tough loss, maybe the media pundits were right when they said that we were a good team with a few missing pieces. We definitely need more depth on both sides of the ball, especially in the secondary and defensive lines. Those two units have been weak spots for our team for the past few seasons and to be honest we haven't addressed them the way we should be in the draft. I still to this day wonder why in the world we passed on Vontae Davis for Peria Jerry. I know Vontae Davis is not a freak or anything, but it's just decisions like that make me wonder how long our FO and coaching staff are going to go without spending a 1st round pick at one of these positions. I think we're only going to get stronger, but I still feel that in order to be competitive, we need to learn how to spread our receivers out more and open up more options in the passing game. We saw in both the New Orleans game and the Green Bay game that their second rate receivers killed us, and when a team like Green Bay gets a lead that strong it was apparent that our personnel was not up to meet the challenge in coming back. With that said, I hope to see us grab another reliable receiver early and focus on the pass rush and the secondary early also. These are all weaknesses that we have had for more than two seasons and it seems like we are just hopeful that our mid-round draft picks will come in be successful, when in reality that is not the case. |

RE: Who do you blame?
BVG times a thousand. No pressure and even when it was obvious Rodgers was picking apart the defense he STILL would not blitz. Doing the same thing that doesn't work over and over again is literally the definition of insanity.

Coming into this game I was worried that he'd be the weak link and while there is plenty of blame to go around...he was awful. Like Aikman said he didn't know what to do. Some are gonna argue personnel, but fuck that! The Eagles don't have better personnel on D overall and they fired their D coordinator. The Bears...maybe...but I'm not so sure. Bottom line...there is no way they should have had that easy a time scoring on us and that's on BVG. He's not done anything since he's been here to suggest he knows what he's doing out there. Make the right move Dimitroff. |

RE: BVG has to go
BVG isn't that bad, I don't think our defensive personnel is all that good. John Abraham is the only one that can get consistent pressure on the QB and teams can double him to take him away. Dunta Robinson and Chris Owens are plain garbage, difficult to run a defense without any dynamic playmakers on the field.

RE: WE NEED A PLAYMAKER WIDE RECIEVER
Agreed. Jonathan Baldwin from Pittsburgh is 6'5 and he's a late-1st round talent. After seeing New Orleans and Green Bay practically kill us in the same manner, it is a apparent that we need more options in order to compete when we are trying to come back.
