And I guess you missed the Sports Illustrated cover page that had Matthews, Cushing, and Maluaga (sp?).......running in tandem.....didn't list Matthews as "second string".....

I looked it up. Clay Matthews became the starter on the October 2, 2008 USC Depth Chart.

By the way, he was not listed as a starting LB at any point during the season. His role was as a situational stand-up pass-rusher for a lot of their packages.

RE: Where do the Falcons go from here
(01-16-2011 01:31 AM)RFlagg Wrote:  The Bucs are for real? They beat 1 team with a winning record. Any other year they'd have a ridiculously hard schedule next season, but the Falcons and Saints finishing in front of them means they get a 3rd place one instead.

The Saints D got exposed by the Seahawks. The Seahawks! Marshawn Lynch made the entire defensive squad his bitch.

Smith won't be on the hot seat next season and I see the Falcons winning 10-12 games again. Just gotta hope we're going the route of the Patriots (multiple Super Bowls) and not the Colts (great regular seasons, only one Super Bowl).

The Bucs might not be an imposing team but they have a very bright future with some key young players. Other than the Ravens and Packers (which idk how we beat), it's not like we had a very impressive schedule of victories.

Freeman will be a very good QB in the NFL, everyone will scream at this but if you put him on the Falcons I say he does better than Ryan. And don't call me a troll for that, it's just my opinion.

RE: Where do the Falcons go from here
Bucs have more explosiveness on offense then we do

Blount is a stud and so is Mike Williams and Freeman can carry a team

Bucs will be dangerous

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

I didnt say this is worse, but in a way it actually is. We had the easiest path to the SB any team could hope for, and we just blew it. It was almost too perfect.

I stated in another thread that there needs to be changes to our scheme.

We still beat Tampa twice and New Orleans in their house, we also beat Seattle in Seattle (who plays tough up there).

Yeah, but don't forget ... we not only won those 2 games ... we DESERVED to win them. We were clearly the better team for both of those games. Our offense was dominant (at least in terms of TOP).

Our offense did not do that tonight, plus Green Bay's offense has just gone to a whole new level since then.

But things are nowhere near as bad as you said. Our success was not luck. We've got some problems to fix, and some of them are glaring. But we've got a strong team and a strong core, and the future looks bright even though this moment right now completely sucks ass.

I can tell you I'm not overreacting cause I've said this stuff before in the middle of the season.

We were a good team this year, dont get me wrong... but 13-3 great? I don't think so. A lot of that 13-3 was based on NFC West schedule, Hartley missing a kick, that 49ers DB being dumb, etc. Hell, we let the Bengals come back in that game. I'm not saying we suck, I just think the 13-3 record was misleading.

I think I overly emphasized that in my original post as well.

Which in a sense is why I'm not that upset we passed on a guy like Dez Bryant. He would've gone to waste in this offense anyways.
