Um, that only shows the blitz worked. You can scheme a blitz to get the defender to the quarterback, you can't scheme the defender from being stupid enough to blow sack after sack like we did tonight. I counted at least four sacks we left on the field. But the blitz worked. Its too bad we only did that half a dozen times or so tonight.

And he never "started" at USC?.....pleez....but hey, we got Peria Jerry.

Seriously. Look up his game logs in college if you don't believe me. He showed up for 1 season and that was his senior season at USC. And the reason I say he wouldn't have been a good fit for our defense is because we don't run a scheme where our LBer is pass rushing every play. Our LBers are expected to cover most of the time and blitz only occasionally. That's why Sean Weatherspoon was such a good fit.

I mean, we could've definitely schemed him in, but we would've had to change our defense a bit in order to make him fit. He didn't even play as a true linebacker for USC, maybe you should research things like this before you call other people stupid for posting accurate statements.

Some of those pressures came off stunts & twists and not the blitz. For the most part, our blitz was stifled and picked up well by the Packers offensive line and backs.

RE: The thing that upset me most all night
The thing that upset me was the fact that we had many of opportunities to stop Green Bay's offense on 3rd downs but still left wrs wide open and allowed Rodgers to sit calmly and pick us apart to get first downs.

You must have watched a different game than I did tonight. The few times we blitzed we got free passes at Rodgers and the players blew the sack.

RE: Who do you blame?
(01-16-2011 12:53 AM)MilleniumFalcon Wrote:  The little I knew of JA98 back then was that he was raw, only 1 year at DE converted from being an offensive player and had a lot of upside. I knew DE was a need because Patrick Kerney left for seattle but what I saw from Patrick Willis from the combine and his play in College was that he was a BEAST and would've loved to have him at #8 once Peterson was off the board. I didn't know much about Derrelle Revis but looking back he would've been a great pick there as well.

I agree with you. I think at the time after ADP went off the board I was wanting to grab either JA98 or Patrick Willis, but they both had their stocks driven up from the combine. As it stands right now, I wish we did go after Patrick Willis, but it's hard to say that at the time it was a completely dumb move. I feel like I can still say that I think the Peria Jerry was a dumb move, because while he was projected to go a little bit higher than what we got him for, he had a history of injuries and honestly we weren't in the position to be grabbing somebody like him considering who was on the board at the time. Atleast when we drafted JA98 it was a need, and considering he had the potential to be the next Mario Williams, I think it was justified. Whose to say Patrick Willis (highly unlikely) or Darrell Revis wouldn't have been as great in our defense.

RE: Who do you blame?
Yeah Clay Matthews wasn't even good enough to start at USC with Cushing, Maiava and Maulaluga. I knew his father was great but never did I think that his son would be this good.

MilleniumFalcon: Because Sam Baker knows that whether they win or lose he still can go back home in his luxury car to a million dollar house sleeping next to a hot babe. But yeah his laughter got me a bit angry as well.

^^^ basically this.
