Locked Out Saints Get Together For Workouts
This little paragraph article is on the front page of ESPN. I just laughed because I had read about Matt Ryan basically doing the same thing earlier, and I'm sure plenty of other NFL teams are doing it. Seems silly to just single out and bring the attention to one team. Gosh Drew Brees is so awesome! Rolleyes

Quote:NEW ORLEANS -- Close to 40 Saints players have gotten together to work out at practice fields and weight rooms at Tulane.

Quarterback Drew Brees, who organized the player-only workouts, says that it's all about doing what they can while they are locked out from their regular facilities during the NFL labor dispute.

Several players who showed up are not currently under contract but were with the team last season and hope to return. Those include left tackle Jermon Bushrod, fullback Heath Evans and safeties Darren Sharper and Roman Harper.

Brees acknowledges a small risk of injuries while players are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. But, he says, they'd likely be working out on their own anyway, so it's better to do it with teammates.

Ok captain literal, "the falcons"(unofficially) started that a month ago!

Haven't seen you in a while Guido, How have you been? Are you excited about Ingram? The NFC South got a heavy dose of the SEC who do you think got the best Player, You, Us, or Carolina (fuck Tampa)

I've been pretty swamped with work and the family stuff. As for the draft, I am very pleased with how it turned out for the Saints. We (yes, I do it , too) filled quite a few real needs without any reaches. We were really needing an athletic DT and Cameron Jordan can fill that role as well as lining up at DE in 3-4 sets. And, yes, I am excited about Ingram. He gives the Saints that potential back that can withstand the pounding. He will be the perfect piece to go with Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory in a rotation. The Illinois LB's have a shot at seeing a lot of playing time with Wilson possibly replacing Shanle at SLB and Bussey seeing lots of play on special teams, as well as competing for the WLB spot. Patrick gives us another dynamic young CB with good size, speed and technique. Romeus could turn out to be another 7th round steal. He was a monster his sophomore and junior years at Pitt before suffering injuries. If Payton and Loomis are right again, he could allow Will Smith to move to the other side and line up as the second starting DE.

Round 1 - Pick 24 (24 overall) Cameron Jordan DE/T California
Round 1 - Pick 28 (28 overall from Patriots) Mark Ingram RB Alabama
Round 3 - Pick 8 (72 overall) Martez Wilson LB Illinois
Round 3 - Pick 24 (88 overall) Johnny Patrick CB Louisville
Round 7 - Pick 24 (226 overall) Greg Romeus DE Pitt
Round 7 - Pick 41 (243 overall) Nate Bussey LB Illinois

As for who I think came out on top in the NFC South, I see the Saints getting the most help overall with all six players having the potential of having immediate impact. Y'all filled a glaring need with Julio Jones, if he lives up to the hype. Rodgers could be an interesting piece of the puzzle if used correctly. Not sure what to think of the punter pick, though.

As for the Panties, I personally think they screwed the pooch going with Newton at #1. They will not be competitive again for the near future.

RE: Locked Out Saints Get Together For Workouts
Is Drew Brees and his buddies meeting at the rest stop glory hole really "working out"?

He brings taking snaps under center to a whole new level.

Don't you worry. They'll be ready to go come that first Thursday in Green Bay.

Brees is always ready to "go come", especially when the team is called the Packers.
