Please God let this be true. I don't think he's that easily replaced. Sure you could find someone who runs a similar scheme but that's not where the magic is. The greatest thing about Nolan is his creative ability to adapt his schemes and philosophies to the talent on both a macro level and the ability to game plan based on the opponent and to adjust mid game. Pretty much the opposite of what we had with Van Pornstache.

Smith has shown he lets the coordinators do their jobs without micromanaging, which is good, but it also magnifies the importance of making a good hire.

Like I said before, we need to pay Nolan head coach money and make him our Johnson or Lebeau. If we do that I can see us building a truly dominant defense over the next few years. Honestly I think that is the path to multiple Super Bowls more so than the offense, i.e. I think it would be much easier to replace the OC if we had to.
