It was a great season, We need a whole defensive philosophy change, either go to the 3-4 which Nolan is good at, or keep at the 4-3. I would give the draft to get Jarvis Jones from Georgia, we need game changers. And Abe is old, we can't have a part time pass rusher and sorry, Peria Jerry and Sidbury have been a waste of picks too. They need to the same thing they did with the offense and do it with the defense. Drop the dead wood and get new picks or veterans and, I would want them to do a whole scheme change and go to the 3-4. I'm dead serious, I'm not a UGA homer, but I would give half the draft to get Jarvis Jones, Hes a game changer. We need that, Our secondary is good, and our linebackers are decent, but we need a whole D-line change. It happened the whole year. KP barely ran at all, yesterday and we had no push whatsoever. If they don't do something we are going to keep having this repeat over and over. The 49ers, should not have been allowed to come back. Matt Ryan cannot do everything. Angel Babs is the only one I would keep from the D-line, because of his age.

I wouldn't go after Jones at all. Game changer or not, we have too many holes to fill. We're not 1 player away. We may be 3 players away, but we also have departures (McClure, Gonzo, probably Abe), and we need an upgrade at RB. And if we're transitioning to a 3-4 we also need a NT and a couple of pieces at end, not to mention some more linebackers (really, the only prototypical OLB for a 3-4 we have is Bierman).

I would be fine going after John Jenkins. But I'd rather trade the entire draft to get Clowney next season than do it now. We have too many other gaps to plug.

Not even close to the personnel for a 3-4 defense. Spoon probably projectsas an ILB in the 3-4.

yup, but there are ones that are doing it now, like bierman hes a could be a OLB and Spoon a MLB, Babs could be a DE, yes we need a NT or 2, but I agree we have holes to fill, but they need to do the same thing they did with the offense and do it on the defense, because it is not working. Is the D-line working or not??? Wink

Also Peria Jerry < wasted pick
Lawrence Sidbury< wasted pick
John Abraham, < part time pass rusher, and damage prone.

The D Line hasn't been working for years. Just saying. I don't believe, even with Abraham, we've seen anywhere near the pass rush we used to have when Kerney was in the mix. We need a pass rush. If you give our current defense a pass rush out of the front 4, we would give teams serious trouble. The problem is, the receivers have 5 - 7 seconds it seems every drop back to get open and it always happens. I don't care how good a secondary is, they are nothing without a pass rush in front of them.

We have a shit ton of project guys on the DL but they haven't turned in to dick, time to quit fucking around and draft a guy that can start from day 1. There is a reason why they called it the no name defense, only one on the D that is worth a shit is Spoon and even he seems to be falling fast.

1. Trade 1st rounder this year and 2nd rounder next year (and whatever else bull shit picks need to be thrown around) to a team like Miami/Cleveland/whoever for their 1st round next year and this year's 2nd.

2. Use rest of draft to fill holes at DT and whatnot.

3. Maybe stumble across decent talent along the way.

4. Use both 1st rounders next year as part of the package to get Clowney next year.

5. ????????

6. Profit.

EXACTLY, remember when we got Abraham and everybody was hoping we would have the best D-line in football, with Kerney. Then the first game, Abe went nuts and got hurt, and Kerney got hurt and was out the year. Then the next year was Petrino and he didn't even call Kerney. I remember when in 2004 we had Kerney and Brady Smith and they were Bookend DEs. Both got sacks all the time. And people were afraid of us. Also back to 1998, the D-light, or bomb squad D line with Chuck Smith, Lester Arschembeau, Shane Dronett and Travis Hall. We have had great D-lines before. We need to get one back, its the most important thing, this off-season. Wink

We've ran the 3-4 numerous times this year. Spoon and Dent/Nicholas inside, Kroy and Abe at OLB, and then a variety of players on the inside.
