We also had what was considered the worst OL in football in 07. A great QB can do wonders for an OL, especially since that OL wasn't bad last year.

Not the OLs fault that Jimmy couldn't read a blitz and assign a hot route.

If Luck indeed does not come out, if you're Carolina you have so many holes everywhere, so many people you need to get off this team. You need to draft whoever is the best player available as long as he isn't RB. Whoever he is, he will help somewhere.

AJ Green will do wonders for Carolina. From an offensive standpoint, his height, size, and skill set will be enough for him to garner attention away from the other receivers. Steve Smith could still be the #1, however AJ Green would draw enough attention to put Steve Smith in 1 on 1 situations. There is so much more to being a good football player than what shows on the stat sheets.

Case in point is Dunta Robinson. Not alot of people think he is worth the money and I will admit that what he makes MIGHT be a little more than was expected, however, his presence on the field alone has deterred some QB's from throwing in his general direction. This is why I believe that AJ Green would be the best choice for Carolina in this upcoming draft IF AJ does in fact leave UGA early(which as a UGA fan I really hope he doesn't).

Since it seems like Luck isn't coming out, IMHO AJ Green is the next best prospect. I like Ryan Mallet, Prince Amukamara, and Cam Newton, but I don't see these guys as #1 picks. I don't think anyone will trade for that other #1 pick either, so they will have to make a selection and I do think it will be AJ Green. I still stand by my thought of getting Steve Smith off this team though. He's 31 and not going to be in any mood for rebuilding, he's shown that this year.

In a DUH story, the Panthers have officially announced John Fox will not be the coach next year. He said he's been expecting it for a few years. Link

A rookie WR, be it an A.J. Green or not, will not improve Carolina anytime soon. And I agree no one else would want to trade up to that spot.

RE: If Andrew Luck goes to Carolina
This just in: The Falcons trade Harry Douglas, 32nd overall pick, and cash considerations to the Panthers for the #1 draft pick.

With the number 1 draft pick the Atlanta Falcons select.....AJ GREEN WR UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA Tongue

I agree not for next year, but with the #1 pick this has to be the guy who can 1) Help your team the most 2) Is the best player available. Who would you pick at #1?

I haven't considered that option since I have been expecting pick #32 again.

Wink

Seriously, though, nobody knows the dynamics in this year's draft with the labor issues in the forefront.
