That dudes ratings are based on a statistical formula that takes offensive and defensive statistics into account.
It's a terribly flawed system, but not based on "hate". |

I still find it funny....Stats mean nothing other than W-L record. I bet we could come up with some good formulas that could put just about any team in the number one position. |

When San Diego was 2-5, these type of statistical models still had San Diego near the top because their losses were based almost solely on special teams blunders. Now San Diego is rolling just like most people thought they would. But, regardless of the statistical models, the Falcons are looking good for HFA through the playoffs, and I like their chances if they get it. |

By the same token - if San Diego was in our Division in place of Carolina - they'd still be in last place. They have the fortune of being in a weak division - which allows them to play poorly at the beginning of the year - come on strong at the end and still win their Division. ![]()

I think this one might take big plays into account more than sustained drives, thus keeping us lower on the list. If my assumption is right, then based on big plays, sure, we would be middle of the pack. That being said, one of the things that has taken some time for me to get accustomed to is offensive style. I wanted big plays, I wanted us to throw deep, but right now, I don't think there is a team in the league that is as methodical as the Falcons. 8+ drives are frequent for us, 5 minutes+ drives are frequent. I wish I could find the numbers to see how many of those we have, because it seems every week, it's happening multiple times a game. |

RE: I know they don't matter but you are gonna laugh
Some stats are greater than others.
For instance: total points allowed vs. yards allowed. Yards cannot win football games, only points can. I mean Duh! right... Maybe in Fantasy Football the formulas they use to make these lists have more merit... Trent Dilfer probably should go to work for the folks who cooked up that list. |
