RE: I knew the Saints were bitter but damn.
Exactly. The NFL didn't just loan Mr Blank $200 Million just to sit back and give the old infrastructure of NO another SB. Arthur and McKay have built up significant standing with the other owners, and they will be cashing it in for that Superbowl.
This is the NFL's premiere showcase, and they want to show off their best and biggest new stadiums, ensuring that other owners get to use that carrot to get their own deals which ensure their future earnings. Formerly SBC Falcon

RE: I knew the Saints were bitter but damn.
Right now, the cities that are rumored to have shown interest in hosting Super Bowl LII (2018) are:
New Orleans Indianapolis Minnesota Denver Atlanta If Denver bids, it will depend heavily on how this years Super Bowl goes in New Jersey to see if they have a shot. Minnesota will have a new stadium, and everything is in line for Atlanta to have a new stadium as well. We also need to remember that the NFL typically awards 2 Super Bowls every other year (hence this year they awarded Super Bowls L and LI). So we likely won't hear anything until closer to 2015. I think the 2018 and 2019 Super Bowls will see something similar to this year, two newer stadiums against an older in the final process. 2018 I think will come down to Minnesota vs. New Orleans, 2019 Atlanta vs. New Orleans. I also think New Orleans loses both bids. The Man In Black

You are more delusional than I thought. Wrong. The NFL isn't "all about new stadiums". It is very much about the week-long activities leading up to the big game. No other site has the ability to board as many visitors, provide places to dine and entertainment all within easy walking distance of the venue. It has a huge plaza (Champions Square) which will easily accommodate tens of thousands for pregame festivities. The main reason why you see cities with "new" stadiums get the game is because the "old" stadium did not meet the requirement of hosting the game. The Superdome easily exceeds ALL of the requirements to host the Super Bowl. There is no need for a "new" stadium. Saints Fan Since 1967

You are more delusional than I thought. Oh, and you just showed your ignorance with your three words. You are aware that the only part of the Superdome that is "old" is the frame, right? Nope. Didn't think you would know that even though it is common knowledge. The Dome was entirely gutted following Katrina and essentially rebuilt. The whole configuration of the interior is dramatically different. Everything is new. There are luxury suites that rival those of all the "new" stadiums being built. As for "blackout", once again you prove your lack of knowledge. That has been proven to have been caused by a defective part from a Chicago based company that was installed in a switching station located outside of the Dome. It had nothing to do with the Dome itself. Not sure why you are so obsessed with rape, though. The guy I work with was in the National Guard and spent most of the time stationed inside the Dome and said while conditions were undoubtedly bad, the claims of what went on in there were drastically exaggerated. Was there crime? Of course! If you throw that many people anywhere in those conditions including quite a few indigents what else would you expect. Saints Fan Since 1967

Appears I was wrong, Goodell made a bunch of announcements today, including that Super Bowl LII will be awarded next May.
