RE: I knew the Saints were bitter but damn.
Oh, and while the league IS bigger, there are still only a limited number of locations that can handle the influx of people in a compact enough area to make the hosting feasible. Jacksonville was horrible as it only had one major hotel and people had to commute just to attend events. I can't see them ever getting another one.

Remember, it is not some nebulous being called the NFL that selects the site, it is the 32 owners themselves. Benson wants this badly for New Orleans and only needs a majority of the votes.

NO wants the SB to boost the profile of their 300th "birthday" because otherwise no one would care. The SB isn't going to give their tremendous marketing muscle to NO just because NO wants it. They use it to get new stadium deals now.
The NFL threw NO a bone because of Katrina. Don't expect the same gift horse to shit in your lap again anytime soon, so long as they can use the carrot of a SB to get new stadiums built. Atlanta getting the SB in a new stadium on your precious 300th whatever would just be so much icing on the cake! Formerly SBC Falcon

The part that went faulty was part of the $4 million upgrade the city recently did themselves. The power outage was 100% on New Orleans.
No, it was not "Just as you figured". Your first claim was that it was "All on the NFL". This is a perfect example of your douchebaggery failing once again and you being delusional about it. |

Do you not have any grasp of reality? The operator that installed the equipment set the threshold too low which caused the shut down of a section of the lights. It was "just as I figured" when the day before it was found to be related to a switchgear device. I said at that time that someone had probably configured it incorrectly which was EXACTLY what it turned out to be. Why do you insist on arguing every little thing I post on this board? Do you have some sort of complex? Saints Fan Since 1967

But, as a story about today’s Super Bowl reports, rates in Indianapolis may have a particularly strong mark-up because of the relatively small host city. “This is what happens when the NFL books the nation’s largest sporting event in a city with only 6,000 hotel rooms. … By population, Indianapolis is the smallest Super Bowl city since Jacksonville, Fla., which hosted a disastrous game in 2005.” Saints Fan Since 1967

Under the new bid process the city must file intent to bid by this August and in October the NFL will invite those cities it wishes to formally bid for the 2018 game. The bids will be due May of 2014. New Orleans has already committed to filing to bid. Indy has not yet. Super Bowl bid process changes Saints Fan Since 1967
