You've got yourself a bet, and the whole board will be richer for it.
Whenever the official announcement comes, I'm sure we will both be notified by the members here. Formerly SBC Falcon

RE: I knew the Saints were bitter but damn.
Back to the thread topic:
Investigation closes in on cause of blackout Usually, a “blackout” happens in the NFL only when the NFL intends for it to happen. On Sunday, an accidental blackout knocked out power at the Superdome for 34 minutes. (Or, in other words, the amount of time it takes for Rob Ryan to find 6.8 jobs.) Four days later, the powers-that-be are closing in on determining the cause of the power outage. According to WWLTV.com, it’s believed that “a protective relay within a piece of equipment called a switchgear” caused half the building to lose electricity. Officially, however, no one is pinpointing a cause, citing the fact that the investigation continues. The equipment at the core of the controversy was installed recently, as part of the eleventh-hour effort to get the stadium ready for the Super Bowl. The relay shut the system done after sensing a problem, even though there apparently was no problem. Other than the 34-minute blackout. --------------------------------------------------------------- Looks like someone may have configured the switchgear improperly. There doesn't seem to have been any failure at all. On a side note, the Rob Ryan mention was very funny. Saints Fan Since 1967

It was just as I figured. Incorrect settings on a new relay triggered the switchgear to shut down that portion of the power in the Dome.

But, they wanted this to be the hugest production ever and ignored the warnings. Just as you figured, eh? The Man In Black

The host city of the 2018 Super Bowl will be announced in April of 2014. How about we all bet $100. That would be awesome. I mean, to host the site, maintain it, and creating the NEW site costs about $1,000,000. But yea. NO will not have another SB by then. The league is too big now to keep hosting these events in the same spots. Every city has something to offer. Even Kacksonville would love to host a SB. What about the Titans? Great city they have. The NFL is pushing their brand more than ever. To not designate new SB locations would really hurt that marketing effort. In 2018, it's possible that the SB may be hosted in the City of Angels.

It is because New Orleans is the best equipped to handle the influx of people and the week-long activities efficiently. Overreact much. The super bowl location was chosen because the NFL met with city and made a grand gesture to give them the super bowl to show the city was ready to bounce back host events. It was a pretty huge deal at the time. You probably forgot. |

Remember, it is not some nebulous being called the NFL that selects the site, it is the 32 owners themselves. Benson wants this badly for New Orleans and only needs a majority of the votes. Marketing is the very reason why they will be back in New Orleans in 2018. Tying the Super Bowl to the year-long Tricentennial would be a major marketing coup. It would be a full year of leveraged advertising paid for by the State of Louisiana. It would be the biggest game ever encompassed in the biggest birthday party ever. Saints Fan Since 1967
