There seems to be more than a little uncertainty about the actual dates. This source has the announcement taking place in March of 2014.

"The Vikings will have a follow-up meeting with the NFL in a couple of weeks, then organize a host committee with business and community leaders from the east and west metropolitan areas. The NFL is expected to decide on the site for the 2018 Super Bowl by March 2014."

I had seen the April 2014 time-frame a couple of places recently. Regardless, it doesn't matter when it becomes official as long as Drathdon confirms.
