It was not the Dome itself that was the problem.

"Entergy (the power company) and the company that manages the Superdome, SMG, said Sunday that an ''abnormality'' occurred where stadium equipment intersects with an Entergy electric feed, causing a breaker to create the outage. It remained unclear Monday exactly what the abnormality was or why it occurred."

The makers of the switching equipment have been called in to determine the cause.

All in all the Super Bowl was yet another huge success and New Orleans remains the ideal site for these type of events. The city is already campaigning to bring the Super Bowl back in 2018 for the 300th anniversary of the founding of New Orleans. I can't imagine they wouldn't get it.
