I have to admit - there were times today when the Falcons didn't seem particularly interested in extending their lead. It was frustrating at times.

The Falcons seem to have an almost diabolically oblique way of getting a victory. They don't shut down their opponents offense, they don't dominate their opponents defensively. They don't dazzle anybody with breath-taking deep passes into the end-zone for sudden TD's, they don't register a lot of pick-sixes on defense.

The thing is, when the clock hits 00:00, the Falcons are leading the game. It's like being slowly smothered to death by the quiet, deadly wings of a thousand moths. It may not have the dramatic impact of the lightning strike, but it is highly effective.

Well, yes...and no.

I mean..did the Saints get some good luck? Sure. But they absolutely blew out the opponent in most of their wins, and they finished first in points scored and yardage.

The Falcons.....they wins games as if it were called down from the heavens. There is that one play...or today.....it was actually a whole bunch of critical plays....that go Atlanta's way in each game.

I mean......I'm starting to think this team is the cliche "team of destiny", and I don't even believe in destiny.
