I started a thread on the other board that said as much before the season started, and probably half the people who posted in it agreed with me. Our problem lies within the O-line, and MM. I'll agree that we need more offensive weapons, but in the form of linemen instead of WR's. Look what a dominate O-line did for Dallas during the Aikmen era! It's up to MM though to formulate a game plan for an offensive line that hasn't proven to be reliable. I think Snelling could be a bigger part of out game plan, but MM refuses to use his imagination. When an opposing team succeeds in shutting down our running game, it's like MM has no clue what to do next. We have 2 very capable backs, 1 star WR, 1 nice possession receiver, 1 HOF'er TE, and a slot receiver that hasn't hit his prime. We have the players to put points on the board, but not an O-line to help get these players the ball. A good O-line can make an O-coordinator look like a genius. A bad O-line can make an O-coordinator look like a babbling fool. I blame the 0-line for 60% of our problems, and 40% on MM for not adapting. |

RE: I don't really think the problem is Mike Mularkey
What scheme/play is there that compensates for an offensive line that is giving up pressure on a consistent basis to 3 or 4 rushers?

Roddy White is better then Maclin or Jackson Problem lies with our QB arm and Mularkey ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Ryan has made the throw when need be so ..Even though he threw the int on the 49er game he came back and lead the team to get into winning position . No one is saying Matt Ryan isnt a winner..He is ..sort of like How Michael Vick would find ways to win us some games after being below avg 3/4 of the game he make a play or a run in 4th .. Right now Im saying from a QB standpoint and looks and demeanor outside stats Ryan is a extremely avg in everything he does outside finding ways to win..I love wins we all love wins ..but come playoff time you want your QB to pass the eye test and those wins can lead so far ..Just like what happen in Cards playoff game right off the bat we had to come from behind and we tied game up but once they took away the run game our team was done being forced to pass Looks wise Ryan accuracy ...has been very spotty his arm extremely avg His pocket presence is not like it was in 08' when he went through his progressions ![]() I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . RE: I don't really think the problem is Mike Mularkey
Teams lose games. That's how the NFL works. We tend to over emote after a loss. Its fans its what we do. I don't know if the issue is the coaching or the players or the execution or all of the above. This is a good team that can go far. All we can do is support them and hope for the best. All the team has to do is execute. The fact is, the core of this team has gotten us back to back winning seasons and is closing in on another. So what do they owe us?
Players do age and we're seeing it happen with our team. Just when someone says Gonzo has lost a step he puts up a game like he did in New Orelans. Just when everyone is writing off Turner he puts up numbers like he did in Cleveland. Consistency is the problem. I don't know if the issue is coaching or execution but we can't continue to put together performances like against Arizona then follow it up with an SF game and keep winning. That's what happened. We played well in Cleveland, not great, but well then stunk it up in Philly. There were no game changing plays like in SF to keep us alive. The team just fell apart. You half expected to see Jim Mora on the sidelines. I don't think Smitty will let it continue. |

Kolb /Vick have one of the worst olines...how come they have a offense that goes down field Rodgers sits behind one of the worst olines in the league ..how come they attack down field Its really simple...Oline is made a issue for a team that is not "" softening up a defense" no defense respects our QB or our passing game..Load the box /force Ryan to beat them and stop Turner and send blit packages and force hot reads Football is not that complicated ..either you have it or you dont...Our offense is struggling cause numerous reasons .. 1) QB play ..in accurate/ doesnt throw a good deep ball 2) inconsistent oline play to sustain blocks or open holes 3) Mularkey scheme to open things up and not just playbook but open up middle of field 4) wrs not being able to get in separation from corners..
