I don't get it: Cleveland Browns
This is my "some-what, maybe a rant" about the Cleveland Browns. I don't get it with this team. Multiple reports around the league are saying that the Browns are showing a lot of interest in Kevin Kolb. (Yet another sub-par quarterback of the league.) They currently have Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace, and Colt McCoy.

Delhomme and Wallace were brought in as somewhat of "time fillers" while Colt McCoy develops. (Which is an absolutely stupid idea, but we'll get to that later in the rant, I'm sure!) We all know Delhomme, he is a leader in the huddle, but he struggles greatly with accuracy and arm strength. The Browns obviously don't like what they are seeing with Delhomme. And Seneca Wallace, well, he's Seneca Wallace, career 3rd string QB at best.

So this brings me back to the main point of this thread. Why would the Cleveland Browns show interest in Kolb? Why not put McCoy on the field? That seems more a viable, and smart idea. They tried the same thing they are doing with McCoy with Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson, it clearly didn't work. I am a firm believer that the only way the idea of having a young QB develop while sitting on the sidelines works is if he is sitting on the sidelines because there is a more experienced, better QB on the field. (Point in case: Look at Aaron Rogers, he sat behind one of the greatest, Brett Favre.) Colt McCoy isn't going to learn anything from watching Jake Delhomme or Seneca Wallace play on the field, or taking advice from them. Much less is he going to learn anything if Kevin Kolb is brought in.

So my big thing is, why not put him on the field. I understand he was drafted later on, but he was brought in to be a franchise QB. Let him get on the field, and learn from his mistakes. The worst that could happen is he makes mistakes, and learns from them. The best thing that could happen is he gets on the field and plays great. I think the Browns need to take a lesson from Carolina, they didn't like what they were seeing from Moore, so they put Clausen on the field.

End Rant!

Does anyone agree that the best way for a young quarterback to learn is to be on the field early, unless of course they have a great quarterback they can study behind like the Rogers/Favre situation took place.

Its almost a no lose solution. If he sucks it up then he learns. However do you think the fans are going to stay behind him if he sucks? Look at the last debacle.

Nope.

But it doesn't take too smart a guy to see that McCoy was the best QB out of the draft right behind Bradford.

bradford was the ONLY qb in this draft. the rest are garbage. 2nd string at best. mccoy too. just my opinion.

Looks like he's starting this weekend against Pittsburgh. Hopefully he proves I was right!

I didn't really pay much attention to the Browns preseason at all, but I did read somewhere that the Browns seriously considered cutting McCoy in preseason. I don't think they were at all pleased with what he showed in preseason.

So........I am real interested to see how he does in a real game this weekend.

RE: I don't get it: Cleveland Browns
Colt McCoy proved me to be right. (In my eyes anyway.) He was 22/33 for 281 yards. He threw 1 TD, and 2 INT's. In my eyes, that's not too shabby! Especially considering he was going up against an extremely tough and gritty Pittsburgh Steelers defense, and he was sacked a total of 4 times. (5 if you count the two half sacks Tongue lol, jk)

He didn't make any bad throws, and he went through his progressions well. I have a feeling that Clevelend got a gem without even using their first round pick.
