So... we just say screw the defense under this scenario and take two injury prone players in the second round? You almost made a good case until you threw Rudolph in the mix. Hell f'n no. Defense needs to be addressed here early and often.

RE: I WANT THIS GUY! (Our 2nd round pick)
I guess I should clarify..If there were a free agency period, I think we see any issues on defense taken care of via free agency. This draft is loaded with offensive play makers and our early round selections should reflect it. This is absolutely Tony's last year in the NFL. After him we have Palmer and Peelle. I love what Tony brings to the offense, but I feel Ryan used more of the other guys on the field when Tony wasn't here. With the little time that Ryan had in the pocket this year his #1 and #2 reads were largely Roddy and Tony. Teams saw that gameplanned on it.

I still like Kendall Hunter better. Lots of production and showed more eagerness and technique in Pass pro at the Senior bowl.

I like Demarco Murray better than Hunter. After watching the Kendall Hunter video, I saw a couple of things. Hunter has great cut back ability, and he is very explosive on his first steps. However, if not for some seriously poor tackling, alot of runs on that clip would not be that great. He also received alot of great downfield blocking. I don't know. Maybe i'll just shut up and let the Falcons Organization do the drafting lol

RE: I WANT THIS GUY! (Our 2nd round pick)
In that video of Murray he looks really really good and crazy athletic. I have been very impressed with everything I've seen from Hunter too. I saw some video of Hunter a couple weeks ago and he looked like an excellent blocker.

I don't know much about Murray's injuries, but I think TD will be cautious after all the injuries his draft picks have had. The fact that Norwood can't stay healthy has to add to that. I'm not sure he would pick an injury prone running back to replace Norwood, since the only reason we won't keep Norwood is because he is injury prone.

I will be very happy if we get Murray or Hunter. They both look like they can make us more explosive.

most of us on this board would like to see FAlcons fill the major needs (DE/CB) in free agency......

then fill in the offensive needs in the draft - obviously because of the CBA and the likelihood that the NFL Draft comes before NFL Free Agency - complicates things to be sure.

However, we are not going to "FIX" the defense for 2011 with draft picks on the defense.......unless we catch lightning in the bottle (i.e. a player like Clay Matthews), we are not going to help the defense greatly with drafted players - especially cornerbacks and defensive ends that usually take 2-3yrs to develop.

RE: I WANT THIS GUY! (Our 2nd round pick)
Holy crap, Murray is an athletic freak. Dude goes from 0 to 100 instantly & must have a 45" vert leap. Problem is, he reminds me of Norwood way too much. He even has that crazy huge upper body on top of chicken-legs. Quite a few games missed due to hamstring problem one season & a dislocated kneecap the next. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if TD overlooks him.

RE: I WANT THIS GUY! (Our 2nd round pick)
I still don't see what causes a player to be labeled injury prone. Murray has had two injuries that have kept him out of action for longer than a game that I know of. Which were the dislocated knee cap and a torn hamstring that required surgery. Could someone clarify what "injury prone" means?

right now I'm sure Dimitroff is starting to become wary of the "injury" players - William Moore bounced back nicely in 2010 but Peria Jerry has basically been ineffective/injured for two years now. Weatherspoon was never injury prone before but oh well.......ready for my rookies to make contribution the first year.

RE: I WANT THIS GUY! (Our 2nd round pick)
I just read through Demarco Murray's NFL Draft profile. His Hamstring injury was off an opening kick off return in the Big 12 championship game.(He would never return kicks for us because we have Weems). His dislocated kneecap was way back in '07 and hasn't had any issues with it since. Played the entire 2009 and 2010 campaign injury free. I think he would do wonders for us at RB.
