RE: How did we lose?
I left out that the O-line needs an overhaul, starting with Dahl. It's cute that people continually say "aww, he's got a mean streak, he plays mean." So fucking what, he sucks donkey dick in pass protection. Ryan got killed last night, and he got killed in our other losses this year.

Without those throws, we might have scored one touchdown and one field goal, and they would have one less touchdown. So at the half, it would have been 21-17 instead of 28-14. That's a huge swing and changes the way both teams play from that point. But the defense was overmatched as well. |

What makes it even worse, they drive 80 yards and basically run the same play we did, except they execute for a td. I don't know; the difference between a great qb and a good one I guess. Then all you have to catch up with is the same old plays over over. |

Despite the 17 point swing brought on the 2nd interception, the defense didn't stop Green Bay in the first half or the second, not even in garbage time. Even a perfect final 35 minutes by Ryan and the offense would have still resulted in a loss, you can't win if the other team gains a lead then continues to score every possession. |

RE: How did we lose?
In my opinion EVERYONE is to blame for that embarrassment last night. The coaches, the offense AND the defense. This team did not play like the Falcons of 2010. So many uncharacteristic mistakes it was unbelievable. The offensive line allowed 5 sacks. They had 4 turnovers, 2 interceptions, 2 fumbles (they were 3rd in the league in the turnover margin). 7 penalties for a team that had the least amount of penalties in the regular season. They couldn't convert on 3rd down when they were either 2nd or 3rd in the league for 3rd down conversions.
Several times the defense had opportunities to knock Rogers on his butt but they just couldn't make the tackle. You would have thought they would have worked on this seeing they had the exact same problem with Brees. Then you add in all the missed tackles, when this was one of our D's strong points. Everyone rallying to the ball and making the tackle but yesterday they couldn't tackle squat. So the question isn't how did we lose, but how does a team that went 13 - 3 and played as well as the Falcons did all year come out and give a performance like they did yesterday? I don't buy the lack of preparation. Smitty is well known for how well they prepare for a game. I don't think they were just sitting on the couch eating Bon-Bon's for the last two weeks. This team was known for it's focus. So how does a team like this have such a mental meltdown? Green Bay is good, but they aren't that good, they didn't beat us, for once we beat ourselves. |

Green Bay did beat us, but we beat ourselves too. That all added up to a 27 point loss. Take out our miscues and we still lose by at least 10. The Packers not punting isn't due to mistakes, it's due to getting beaten. Rodgers went 31-35 not because of our mistakes but because he was able to take advantage of our mistakes. Don't get me wrong, we played horribly but Green Bay earned the victory. This isn't one of those "we should've won" games. |

RE: How did we lose?
A substantial TON of thoughtful response in here...
A lot of you guys have pretty much nailed it. what I'll say about the Packer game is that the Falcons were OBVIOUSLY pretty lucky to have won the first go-round. The Falcons pressed the BUTTON at the end of the 1st half and it absolutely blew up in their face! > If the Falcons keep Matt Ryan they are going to need more RBs. I think the Packers are a talented team that can go from beating Philly with the run game one week, to Rogers airing it out vs. the Falcons the next. Also, the Green Bay secondary is superior to the Falcons without question. The Falcons attempted to let Matt Ryan go for broke and all of a sudden they were 21 down when maybe they coulda been at least tied at the half? I really felt bad for him when he threw that pick6. They really needed to grind out a win against the Packers instead of going for broke. 'Keep Aaron Rogers off the field' is the only game plan that would've worked. It all happened kinda in one single moment on 3rd and xtra long.It has been a long season for that ATL D-line. Unfortunately it showed. I'm a little disappointed that players like Sidbury and Douglas haven't revealed much results.
