Falcons go on a two game losing streak going into the final game against the Panthers, which we win.

The Saints go on a two game winning streak and takeover first place in the division.

(And lets also assume that one way or another, the Giants, Eagles and Bears get to five losses.)

So in the final game of the season, the Saints just have to win at home against the Bucs. . . . AND THEY LOSE!!!

Falcons, at 12-4 would have the Division, the Conference and home field advantage again. The Saints, with the same 12-4 record, would be playing on the road someplace very cold and far away (unless they got the Rams somehow).

How crazy would that make the Saints fans? How funny would THAT be? Worth the angst for us getting there?

Yeah, probably not.

I would rather just win the next two games and let our starters rest against the panthers.

All we have to do is win 2 out of the next 3 to secure Home Field.
I would rather get the Seahawks out of the way and beat the Saints, then just play the backups against Carolina.
That would basically give our Starters 3 weeks of rest.

There's some twisted thinking going on here. Just give me the direct 14-2 route.

We dont need to be 14-2. 13-3 will do it, even if we lose to the Saints.

The Giants and Eagles definitely and the Bears possibly would leap over us in the conference. We would not have HFA and might not even get a bye week. Then we would likely have to play a team that beat us (Philly or NO) in the first round, and if we got past them, then we would freeze our asses off in Chicago, Philly, or NY. Not even something we should joke about.
