RE: Here is some news that is going to divide the fanbase....
I've not supported this move, and Deion was my sports hero through all my years in uniform.

Reading this article here will maybe let it make a little more sense.

After reading that article, and others', I've begun to warm up to the idea. The last thing I wanted for our organization was for it to look desperate by claiming a Superstar player that didn't have the credentials that our current ROH members have, but after reading that article, I can definitely see both sides.

There are always worse things than inducting a meteoric HOF player in your ROH.

The positive take I want to leave with, and my hopes of what will come from this move are.... Maybe honoring Deion, letting him know that you were a Falcon before anything else, maybe all the things that will come to light with this move will strengthen Deion's relationship with this franchise, that is something that I think we would all be proud of.

After 21 years from the day he was drafted, is it time for our baby boy Prime to come home?.....Looks like it.

I suppose they won't want to add YKW... Tongue

If they do - it won't be for many years. If Peyton thinks Deion will separate the fanbase! With the emotional impact Vick has on the fans, it would cause them to lose too much revenue. You would see long time STH dropping their accounts and staying away from the stadium.

Right or wrong - it's just too soon and the wounds are continously opened by the media and some members of the fanbase. Blank is a very smart man - he's not going to hurt his business over it.

Does he deserve to go in? I don't know. We'd have to judge his contribution to the team vs. the damage he caused to the team.

Deion went where he felt he was wanted. He ran his mouth. Some say he lied to the Falcons by saying he'd let them know what was offered - but we don't know that for sure as since day one - he and his agent have denied that. He has always claimed that they threw him away basically. He has always been arrogant and cocky - but it showed on the field. The one thing we do know about him is that while he had talent oozing from every pore - he was a consumate work-a-holic. He studied the game and had great work ethics. That has never been questioned. He liked the prime time spotlight, but he made the effort to get there.

Vick committed a Federal Crime, lied about it to the Falcons and let his teammates, the fanbase and the Organization down by allowing them to trade away Schaub knowing full well that he was guilty and lieing to everyone about it. He had more natural athleticism than maybe 90% of the athletes who play the game. He was an electric player and he was a winner when he was on the field. He admittedly, however, never studied the game or worked towards becoming better. If he had, where might the Falcons fall in the line-up of Lombardi winners in the NFC South? But, he didn't. He has paid the price for his gambling crimes, but what he did to the city was cause dissention by disrespecting the game, the City and the team to pursue his own illegal interests and disregarding the well compensated faith the team had in him. You can't compare the loyalty or the money that the front office of the Falcons provided to Vick to the loyalty or the money the old front office of the Falcons provided to Sanders. Not even close.

While his feats on the field may well earn him a place in the ring - his dishonorable actions do not.

If he goes in, the wounds must be healed first. That might be a long, long time away.

This, by the way, is coming from the observations of a Vick fan - who has always defended him. I'm just speaking reality.

A little snippet from what I said on the OMB as well -

Quote:I think adding him into the ROH is a great idea by Blank. In a sense, he's righting the ship between Deion and the franchise.

Bottom line, Sanders was a great player, arguably the greatest to ever play the position. Unfortunately, we had terrible ownership that didn't reward our players for their hard efforts. Now, we've finally gotten those pieces in place and whether some believe it or not, Prime sees that. Also, he has no vendetta against the Falcons...just watch Gameday Live, Roddy's performance garnered Prime's #5 spot, then gave props to Ryan for a fantastic throw on his one-handed catch. He knows the game and he gives credit where it's due...period. I like the move...all I'm hoping for now is that we beat the Ravens and make the ceremony more memorable.

One last thing, this shouldn't divide the fanbase at all...a real fan should know the situation and understand why Prime had ill feelings towards the Falcons. Also, a real fan should know that once Blank first stepped foot into the Falcons' front office, Deion's opinions instantly changed. Tack on the fact that we're one of the best teams in the NFC right now and Deion knows and respects it, should also show that he isn't what some make him out to be. Yes, he was flashy and he talked trash but that was his game and he backed it up every Sunday...that type of talent you just have to respect. Congrats Prime.

I'm sure all the "fans" who hate Keith Brooking for acting like a jackass in one game that he immediately apologized for afterwards will also crucify Deion Sanders and refuse to honor him after the many, many, many years he has publicly destroyed the Falcons franchise including its owners, coaches, players and fans.

Frankly speaking Deion getting in over guys like Mathis and Case is a joke.

I think its a joke he is getting in.

Mathis and Case should already be in, any argument I had against brooking going in is out the window.

I think Keith Brooking was completely classless when we played Dallas. He was an absolute doucher with his antics. That being said, he's a shoe-in for the ROH.
