Help Stop the Lockout on the 18th!
I got this email from Kevin Mawae - the president of the NFL Players Association. Don't ask me for a link - it came in my email. However, please read it and do your part to be heard regarding a lock out next year!

If you are a rival fan or even if you just participate on other NFL boards - please copy this and create threads. Let's get the word out - we want our football in 2011. Don't forget to sign the petition!

Dear NFL Fan:

First off, the players of the National Football League and I want to thank you for doing your part as a fan and signing the Petition to help us Block the NFL Lockout. As you know, the NFL and team owners have planned to impose a lockout of players and fans following the expiration of the CBA on March 3, 2011.

I want to make you aware of a very important online movement happening Tuesday, January 18th that we want you to be a part of. NFL players across the league and fans are participating in a #LETUSPLAY Day, and we want YOU to join us. It will be an opportunity for you to team up with players as we stand together to help prevent the NFL Lockout. Here's how you can help:

· Tell EVERYONE you can about http://www.NFLLockout.com and how they can sign the Petition to Block the Lockout

· Donate your Facebook status by posting: "Today is LET US PLAY Day. Help NFL Players and Fans Block the Lockout. VisitNFLLockout.com and sign the Petition."

· Tweet the following: "Today is #LETUSPLAY Day. Help #NFL Players & Fans #BlocktheLockout. Visit NFLLockout.com and sign the Petition."

· You can participate in a #LETUSPLAY Chat with me and other players on Facebook and Twitter that day. We will also be responding to fan questions on Ustream and our YouTube page.

In addition, please be sure to follow these social media profiles:

RE: Help Stop the Lockout on the 18th!
there is no chance of a NFL lock out the game is too hot right now the ratings are though the roof its a billion dollar empire that hasnt slowed down in this economy . If there was ever a lockout like 0.002 chance we the fans NEED TO REBEL . We need to set the message we are tired of the prices /the direct tv subscription .merchandise /apparel etc
by all means we should but out of those talks . WE THE FANS SHOULD NOT TAKE ANY SIDES ..The owners make $$ /the players make $$ who are we to take a side .

what we should do if they go on strike is BOYCOTT

I'm delusional from our playoff loss against GB . Don't take me seriously until year 2413 .

In this case though - it is a lockout - not a strike.

The players want to play.

changes need to be made to better game

rookie pay scale is a must ..

You cant have these rookies making 60 million when they can be duds it kills teams cap and cripples them for years .

I agree.

However, when the players asked what they want - Goodell has said he doesn't know.

The problem is not in negotiations - it is in knowing what to negotiate.

Apparently - the owners can't come to a conclusion to even take to the players.

Seems there are 3 or 4 owners who are being obtuse about the whole process. NE, Car and Dallas I know of - and I think there is a 4th.

It's cute that Mawae wants us to write letters, but that won't do a damn bit of good Tandy.

The players want to play.
And the owners want to make money.

Taken from the other CBA thread:

Quote:The Packers posted an operating profit of approximately $9.8 million in the fiscal year that ended March 31, down from $20.1 million the previous year. Taking into account investment losses that were less severe, the team reported net income of approximately $5.2 million, up from $4 million.

“Show us the financial data that says that the National Football League is in some sort of economic (hardship),” Smith said. “And so far all we’ve heard back is from their lead negotiator, who said that’s none of our business.”

Consider that the Packers are probably one of the top marketable teams in the NFL and you can understand what the problem is. A $1B organization making only $5.2 million net income is, for lack of the better word, pathetically bad.

When dealing with unsympathetic billionaire owners we can just write our support on toilet paper.

They look at fans the way a dairy looks at cows.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

How do you know? Just because people have money doesn't mean they don't care about the people that help to sustain the product they created. (something about that sentence made it difficult to type and read).
