Have you guys actually seen the stats from the game?
Here are the big differences:
Falcons 1st Downs: 33 1st downs from Penalties: 8 3rd down efficiency: 11-17 Red Zone (Made-Att): 5-8 Penalties: 6-75 Turnovers: 1 Possession: 39:13 Cardinals 1st Downs: 11 1st downs from Penalties: 1 3rd down efficiency: 0-8 Red Zone (Made-Att): 0-0 Penalties: 10-109 Turnovers: 3 Possession: 20:47 Our time of possession was nearly twice theirs. This wore their D out bad (you could tell). Our D did PERFECT on 3rd down stops. And our offence did well in the red zone. Now, this is what tells the hidden story behind all of these stats. ATL received 8 1st downs from penalties. The Cards had 10 penalties total and 8 of those gave us first downs. WOW.

Yeah, the Cardinals were definitely stepping on their own wangs today.......but we would have kicked their asses regardless of the penalties.
The Falcons are just a much better football team right now. D is starting to really look good, and it was sweet to see the offense clicking. Harry D. is going to be huge for us before the year is over...

Take away the 80 yard run and we gave up like NOTHING on rushing.. something like 35 yards..

We whipped a team that we should have. We didnt play down to their level. That is what made me the most happy.

Remember when the Rams came in here at the end of Ryan's first year? We were clearly the better team but we let them push us around for a lot of that game...We won but it was closer than it should have been. Really good observation Jedi....

RE: Have you guys actually seen the stats from the game?
Thanks for posting this, I was asking about that 33 1st down stat earlier. That is amazing!
Also, unbelievable the Cards were 0-8 on 3rd down conversions. Another jaw dropper. I could have sworn they had some Red Zone attempts, though. That is another pretty amazing stat. What a dominating game! That is the kind of "step on the throat" kind of dominance I was hoping to see out of our team this year. Can't wait for next week! Will be an even better gauge for where we are and how we fare against tougher teams. Doesn't get much tougher than SB Champs, baby!!! Brent Grimes ~ "I want the ball, man!"

We have a really good Defense. And we stopped an offense that is no slouch today, esp. with Fitzgerald and Breaston on it.

Not playing down to their level is a problem we've had in the past. It's good to see us put a whoopin on a team that we should have. |
