I suppose that could affect just so many things. Good point. Usually some players get wrapped up around now... but I haven't heard of really any contract extensions, except that corner Tramon Williams who is averaging just over 8. Tramon is (apparently) the better CB, so I'd think Grimes comes up a little short. I also somewhat remember hearing Tramon took less money to re-up now pre-CBA.

RE: Grimes Contract
Wow! 6-8 million per year?
I like Grimes a lot. You can't help but like a guy that is small and scrappy. I think that he would make a great nickle CB that is allowed to make plays in space. He is doing a good job for us at LCB, but he is not excellent. Keep in mind that he has been targeted by other QB's, and they have had success. I have not done research to compare relative values, but I would say that Grimes is worth about $3-4 million per year. If he balks, let him walk. That is the Belichick way and will probably be the TD way. |

If you did, you would not utter such dumb words. 2nd.. He IS doing EXCELLENT for your information! Yes he gets targeted, just like any "no name corner" would in the NFL and guess what else? ITS THE NFL!! So regardless of how EXCELLENT you are, receivers are gonna catch balls. Thats what they get paid to do. And if you dont know what defense was called, you have no idea if a catch was a certain corners fault or lack of skill. 3rd.. You didnt do research, yet you still gave us your uneducated opinion of what you think OUR best corner (and easily top 5 in the NFL) is worth. Thanks....but NO thanks! You sound like one of the Grimes haters that used to say Owens was better than him. Just dont jump on the bandwagon if/when he makes the probowl and/or leads the NFL in interceptions and deflected balls! |

RE: Grimes Contract
Pay the man, he deserves it more than ANYONE else on the D at this time. This team is starting to look like other dominant D's with a great player at each level.

RE: Grimes Contract
Grimes is the only Falcons player who has played on a team that won an NFL Championship. I wouldn't bet against him winning more during his career and I really hope they are all with the Falcons.

I just don't think that he is worth a big contract. He works well in space and is an incredible physical talent. But, he has had some pretty mediocre games and the team should not jump to reward him with a major contract. That is my opinion. I am not a Grimes hater. I know that he is far superior to Owens and any other CB on the roster. I am not happy with the Dunta contract. However, that does not mean that we should throw another large contract to a CB that may not be a shut down performer. TD should spend his money on pass rushers, not CB's. This draft is deep in good solid corners. So, the wisest move would be to take a CB early and offer Grimes a reasonable contract. Eight million is to much. |

You do realize our OLineman and Norwood will be FA's and TOny G is most likely going to Retires soon which leaves us with Plenty of $, as well as Abe might be going in the next 2 seasons. We'll have plenty of $ |

RE: Grimes Contract
Our corners are doing well.
It's a surprise that they can hold their own after the long timeframe of bad corners here. I don't care what he wants, just give it to him. Drafting corners has never been our strongsuit. Not to mention, we should have the last pick of the 1st round which would leave a cb that needs to be developed.
