G-Dawg Post-Combine Falcons 7rd. Mock - 03/02
G-Dawg Mock at Atlantafalcons.com

Here goes.....(all heights/weight and 40 times are from combine - fractional inches were rounded up over half inch or down otherwise).

#1-027) Justin Houston, DE-Georgia 6'3", 270lbs (4.68/40)
Simply put, this is the pass rusher we need. At one point I was concerned about his overall weight but he put on 15lbs. for the combine while still maintaining a very fast 40 time. I believe Justin would have an immediate impact on our ability to rush the passer. Even if Falcons are successful landing a Ray Edwards, Mathias Kiwanuka or Charles Johnson in free agency, Abraham is close to the end and we need bookends for the future. As of this writing, both Kiwanuka and CJ have been tendered and could be RFA pending the new CBA.

#2-059) Randall Cobb, WR-Kentucky 5'10", 191lbs (4.46/40)
I like Titus Young slightly better but I don't think Young makes it to #59. Cobb is probably the more steady player but Young is more explosive. Both are playmakers who play faster than they time on the stopwatch. Cobb brings big-play ability to the Falcons which is much needed.

#3-091) Kendall Hunter, RB-Oklahoma State 5'7":, 199lbs (4.53/40)
Here is another explosive player that is the perfect "lightning" to Michael Turner's "thunder". Kendall has the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, get outside to threaten the edges of the defense and is tough enough to run inside. He could even possibly develop into a #1 RB. If gone, Jordan Todman would be a good substitute.

#4-123) Curtis Marsh, CB-Utah State 6'0", 197lbs. (4.46/40)
This guy has the size to match up with bigger wideouts and the speed and hips to run downfield. Also, Marsh is a willing tackler. He fits right in and is a necessary upgrade to the Falcons secondary.

#5-155) Julius Thomas, TE-Portland State 6'5", 256lbs. (4.68/40)
This is a "shoot-the-moon" gamble pick I admit. He has played one year of division II football and was a former basketball player - very similiar background as Antonio Gates'(Chargers) path to the NFL. He has the size, leaping ability and potential to be a real weapon in Falcons offense in future years. For 2011, he sits behind Gonzalez and Palmer and learns. This could be a huge BUST pick or it could be a huge BOOM pick. I think, in 5th round, its a good gamble. Look at this leaping ability!!

#6-187) Chas Henry, P-Florida
This guy would be a Day#1 starter taking over for the overrated and overpaid Michael Koenan. He has averaged 44.5yds in punting and is good at putting it inside the 20. Also has had no punt blocks - Georgia native even though he played college for the evil Gators.

#7-218) Ricardo Lockette, WR-Fort Valley State 6'2", 211lbs (4.37/40)
This is another heavy developmental project who is a track star. He is long on potential and short on production. With the drafting of Cobb to go with Roddy White, Harry Douglas, Michael Jenkins and Kerry Meier, the Falcons don't need a player for 2011 but need to develop Lockette for future years. He could also be a KR/PR with his speed. At 7th round, risk meets reward.

#7-210) (f/ NE) Kyle Hix, LT-Texas 6'7", 318lbs (5.46/40)
Just another big guy that has held up at a major college and played a lot of snaps - four year starter at both left and right tackle - quality depth to be developed.
