We got our asses beat by a better team - we would have lost the GB game on grass just like we would have in the dome. While Falcons "conventional" offense may be better suited to a grass stadium - you don't build stadiums to suit your personnel - it costs too much and you don't build stadiums but once every 20 years or more - so, this thread seems somewhat silly to me.

I would like an outdoor stadium as much as the next guy but I can live with it either way. At issue moreover is Mike Mularkey - easier to change your OC and get a couple of burners in draft/Free agency on offense/defense than to build a whole new stadium.

Sign fast DE in free agency
Sign cover corner in free agency
Draft a fast WR
Draft a fast RB

.....problem solved.
Kill 'em with sound logic gdawg....works every time.

We're just not talented enough yet on either side of the ball to get the Lombardi trophy.

I expect that situation to be fixed this offseason. TD has sounded embarrassed in the couple of interviews I have heard from him since we got our asses kicked Saturday night.

Our offense is too slow for a Dome, but you don't change stadiums to match personnel. Build a faster offense, and the wins will come.

I really never enjoyed watching a game at the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium in a cold rain. If I'm paying to see a game at least I want to stay dry.

I love the Falcons and to hell with anyone who doesn't!

That's what I was alluding to. It's funny we've built a team so that we could go on the road and win in bad weather, but then we screw it up by getting home field advantage and let the cold weather team come to us Smile

Maybe the staff will realize this now. I get the impression that the end really didn't sit well with them, which is good as it will make them less reluctant to make changes, hopefully aggressive ones.

we wont be outta the Dome for a while.. but the Dome sucks..Location sucks.. environment sucks, tailgating area sucks, etc, etc.. Crowds were decent and loud this year though.. ill have to say , our fans made a big improvement. Outside Stadium at Doraville GM Plant s what we need.

what always cracks me up is people think when we fill a few holes the other 31 teams sat around and did nothing, signed nobody, drafted nobody and didnt try to imrove at all while we filled a few holes. .. and MOST of them are drafting higher than us .

I may not be the smartest when it comes to football knowledge, but what the hell kinda lame thinking is this?
Not a dome team?
Built to play outdoors?
My dog cries at night holding a shampoo bottle?

These sentences make no logical sense. You think the players are gonna run faster in the Sun?

Have you guys not noticed how often we win in domes? Particularly our own?

You ever heard an announcer or player something about how the field is "fast"?

The grass in a dome is more or less carpet, and domes also lack any kind of wind. What this allows for is less resistance while running and avoids issues with the elements when throwing down field.

Outside fields lend themselves more to short/intermediate passes, power run games, and downhill styled defenses.

When you look at our offense, we're simply slow all around. None of RBs are very fast, only Roddy White can really stretch the field, and none of our TEs stretch the field at this point. A power run team works best out doors, where the defense isn't able to change directions as quickly and maintain the most solid footing.

We don't have to switch to some wide open spread offense. I am simply suggesting that our offense needs speed on the outside and speed in the backfield to go along with Turner.

Our defense on the other hand is built with an indoor field in mind. Sideline to sideline speed, athleticism, and a swarming style of attack is our strong point.

It isn't game breaking, the Steelers defense is going to be a good defense no matter what field you put it on. However, I promise you that an offense like the Eagles is not going to be as good outside as it would be indoors.

If the past decade has shown us anything, it's that where you pick in the draft doesn't matter all that much.

For some odd reason, teams like the Colts, Patriots, and Steelers keep picking at the bottom of the 1st and coming away with some of the best players more times than not.

Actually fast players do run faster on turf. The Falcons aren't particularely fast at a lot of important speed positions. Did you ever see the Greatest Show on Turf play on grass? Completely different team.
