For those that want national media attention...
The falcons rank as the 10th most popular in the NFL for the first time. This is how and why we'll start getting more attention on the national stage.

The Cowgirls are ranked first, which explains why they get so much attention despite their horrible record.

Per AJC

Falcons crack 10 most popular teams list for first time

It's amazing what a little fire and ice -- and back-to-back winning campaigns -- can do for a team's image.

Two years ago, the Falcons, coming off the Michael Vick dogfighting scandal and another losing season, ranked as the 27th most popular team in the NFL, according to an annual poll by Harris Interactive.

This year -- led by Michael "The Burner" Turner and Matt "Matty Ice" Ryan -- the Birds rank 10th, up three spots from 2009. Their previous high was 18th in 1999, the year they made their only Super Bowl appearance.

Judging by the rankings, compiled from 2,620 adults participating in an online survey just prior to the 2010 season, pro football fans tend to be front-runners. The New Orleans Saints, fresh off their first NFL title, jumped from 24th to 5th. Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks, following Jim Mora Jr.'s one-and-done head coaching stint, dropped from a tie for 14th to 31st (out of 32).

There are a few anomalies. Despite coming off the worst season in franchise history, the St. Louis Rams moved up from 30th to 24th.

The top and bottom spots remained consistent, with the Dallas Cowboys ranking first and the Jacksonville Jaguars, rarely seen in their own market because of league-imposed blackouts, coming in 32nd. The Cowboys have now finished first seven times, while the Jags recorded their fifth least-popular finish.

When asked who will be this season's Super Bowl winner, 20 percent picked the Saints, followed by the New England Patriots at 11 percent. Only 2 percent of those responding chose the Falcons -- 2 percent more than in 1999, for what it's worth.

I guess this means something for Nielson ratings and TV Network scheduling, but it really means nothing to me.

Bandwagon hopping front runners are the worst people to me. I am already on my 3rd draft of my profanity laced rant of a Facebook status for everybody swingin from our sack at the end of the year.

we are that popular yet our fans cant get in their seats until mid first qtr at the earliest.. No wonder they came out flat vs the 49ers. This city doesn't even deserve a team with that kind of support

I was watching the Indy game, and they were half way through the first quarter and half the seats were empty. It's not only an Atlanta thing. Keep in mind, this is the bible belt, and church is a big deal. Second, parking around the Dome sucks. If you go to one game a year, then you really have no idea where to park to be able to avoid taking an hour to get in your seat. I think it's funny when people say we don't deserve a team because 10 thousand people aren't sitting in a seat. Doesn't that sound ridicules?

If we came out flat against SF because people weren't in their seats, then how do you explain our fast start against Arizona? You're way off base, and have nothing to back that up.

Church should be moved to Saturday. The Jews got it right.
