Fat
Sometimes it just flows,...hope ya'll enjoy. Crucifixions may be performed by Father Guido.
They got fat. While the Packers were dismantling the Vickles, they were getting stronger with momentum and staying into real football shape. For two weeks the Falcons were getting healthy in light workouts and less weight lifting. They got fat. And it showed on the field last Saturday. UGA fans can relate to this. The Bulldogs spent summer camp in shorts and shells. No contact was allowed to ensure no injuries would occur. Look at how they played this last season. Maybe football is becoming like basketball. Mike Smith is a huge believer in having soft practices, a huge proponent of rotating defensive linemen to keep them fresh. Does anyone recall what Abe said after the 2008 Falcons training camp? If not I'll tell you. In so many words after Abe held out of every training camp while a Jet except one, he said it was the first time he enjoyed a training camp in his career(although he never participated but in a couple). This "process" has hit a brick wall. Ridiculous O-line blocking, the bend but don't break scheme on defense, players looking winded after two weeks of rest, players showing no sense of urgency in a game when you lose you go your ass home. It's obvious there's a problem like there was in 2005 and 2006 when Mora allowed the players to run the show. It also appears the Falcons are what they call a finesse team regardless the power run game bs they try to feed us. If your defense sits in a deep cover zone a majority of times your defense is a finesse defense, no argument. If your offense focuses on a short passing game with some runs stuffed in when you're ahead in score, it's finesse. Sorry for the rant but we be expecting some appearances in a Championship Game after 3 years in this process. Dimitroff has had three draft classes and everyone should by now know what it takes to win in the playoffs. 13 wins was great. 16 wins in 1998 was great but that loss in SB 33 hurt bad. The loss at home to the Packers hurt pretty bad too. Maybe after the Jets beating the Patriots,...maybe it proved something. The Patriots *north* and their philosophy is a loser after all these years. The Falcons emulated the Niners with Mora/Knapp, hired a college coach(Petrino), then emulated the Patriots with Dimitroff. And there's Mularkey and Van Gorder,...damn it's gonna be a long offseason.

RE: Fat
If you think this team is built for losing after the Packers game after this 13-3 season, then there really is no help for you.

Never said this team is built for losing. But I did suggest this team isn't built to win Championships. No help for me? What does that mean? So no one can question things?

Amazing, this is about as reactionary as I've yet seen this week and that's really saying something. With that kind of insight you might consider applying to the NFL Network or ESPN, you would fit right in. On the other hand, maybe all it proved is that you play good teams in the playoffs. If you make too many mistakes or have a bad game you go home - no matter who you are and how good you are! But yeah, the Patriots philosophy is a road to losers-ville, 14-2 was mirage, Brady is a game manager... |

Go talk to Mike Smith or Thomas Dimitroff. Why don't you debate them on the post-season merits of this football team. Tell me how that goes. |

The NFLN, ESPN has already begged me to write for them but I can't take a pay cut like that. In many corners the Falcons are called the Patriots South for a reason, an obvious reason. If you don't know why then fine. Arthur Blank bought the franchise with an old coach at the helm, used him for two seasons and ran him out. Blank thought the Niners model from the 80's was the way,...after that failed he tried hiring a college coach to instill discipline which failed. Then he hired Dimitroff and the cards all fell as to hiring coaches. The Falcons have one of the most tenured coaching staffs in the league. Hey ya'll,...can't one let off steam after a loss? We knew it was gonna be a tough game but geesh,...embarrassing.

Are words like that allowed here? Any paying fan of the team has the right to critique his/her team. By year 3 we expected 13 wins and expected going further in the playoffs. Whatever your angry ass expected means nothing to us.
