Smith is no Coughlin or McCarthy, and Ryan is no Rodgers or Manning. I don't think this team has the mental toughness to do an about face when they hit the playoffs and start firing on all cylinders. Can it happen? sure. Do I think it will happen? hell no.

I don't think anyone said that we will lose in the playoffs solely b/c of this game, that would be foolish. Myself and other have stated that given their recent body of work and regression on offense the Falcons appear to be poised to go 1 and done again in the playoffs. This game was not played in a vacuum, everything else they have done during the season comes into play when forming such an opinion. I myself thought that the Falcons would be 1 and done after the first Saints game and I haven't seen much of anything to make me change my mind.

Yeah, I might think one way and stick to it but fortunately I'm not the HC of a billion dollar NFL team so what I think about the Falcons and football in general doesn't really matter. Sure it might piss some people off and allow others to pretend like they are "real fans" but ultimately my opinion on the matter is completely irrelevant.

I'm not suggesting that we can't bounce back either, we could thrash the Giants next weekend but based on the recent history of this team, the track record of our HC and QB in big games (especially the playoffs) and our obvious regression on offense I think it is quite reasonable to assume that this team will once again be 1 and done in the playoffs. Can we win a playoff game? sure, but I wouldn't put any money on it.

But who was Mcarthy before that season...matter of fact, who was Rodgers. That was Rodgers coming out party that year. What's the idea of progression?

Im not comparing the two as far as how great of a player they are, but who was Belicheck before the Super Bowls with the Pats. Who was Peyton Manning when he went 0-3.

All of these people are great players and coaches but who were they before then? History is just that....history. It doesn't speak for the present at all. I've seen a difference in this team from previous years in the little things....some haven't.

I'm honestly just ready to fast forward to the playoffs because nobody is really going to change their stance until whatever happens happens.

Some will be more optimistic and obviously more pessimistic.

I apologize for the response before in regards to people equating this loss to a definite loss in the playoffs. Thats how it came off to me and it might have been an immediate reaction to the loss.

Perspectively speaking we are and have been better on both sides of the ball this year than we have been since 2008. Lets just think about that for a second.
