why am I not concerned ?
I guess I have grown used to our second half comebacks... I'm stuck @ work listening on the radio so I am not seeing how bad we suck.. that helps I guess.

RE: why am I not concerned ?
Our defense usually comes out for the second half and plays very well. However, they've never had to hold up to a 16 point deficit. And with the way our offense has been middling (at best) the past four weeks or so, this is one instance where I am very much concerned.
Plus, it just looks like the guys played with no effort...which is a bigger embarrassment--no matter how many points we win or lose by today. |

RE: why am I not concerned ?
Why I am not concerned. We have clearly been trying some different things. Getting different bodies on the field to see what we got going on.
Why I am concerned. We played in a coma today. Carolina were up for this game. We came out comatose we are still in bed. We may have treated this game like a training exercise but tell the truth it's not what I wante to see and fair play and well done to Carolina for coming at us the way we did. The thing is. Our tempo never changed. If this was before we were guaranteed playoffs. I think we would have seen us respond a lot sooner as it is we didn't look bothered about this game until somewhere in the 3 rd quarter. You never know what is going through coach smiths head sometimes. But I just got the impression that from play calling to players and execution. Nobody wanted this game in Atlanta's locker room. Carolina wanted it and may have bought Riviera another season. Which I think he deserves. Yes we have some key pieces missing from D, but what is out offenses excuse for not executing. Even if the gameplan had a focus on trying out things rather than securing a win, which I disbelieve anyway. What the fuck was with the lack of commitment. I don't expect second down to be a constant issue it's clear we are both having struggles but also trying some new things but. This game both bugs and satisfies me all at once. |

I'm concerned. I watched the worst game we've ever played.

RE: why am I not concerned ?
Phocis. I can't see how that was the worse game we have ever played under Smitty and TD. I think that's an over reaction. It was a poor performance. An uninspired performance. The last 2 weeks we have been out of rhythm. Ever since TB where we have had a ground game and been working to establish it. The passing game has been decidedly off.
There are things to be worked on. But thankfully we have a reason to work on them and make sure they are right. The playoffs are right there. If we are gonna be rocky. Now is the time to be rocky. Remember 2010. We went in and were doing pretty much what we wanted. Came back out against the pack who had been struggling. And got curb stomped I'll take a loss on this fashion if it teaches our coaching staff and things they need to know about this team now. |

RE: why am I not concerned ?
Question.... how do you work on these things you are talking about when you can't even get a first down in the 1st half? We got what... 50 yards or so? You can't say we tried some new things when we didn't have the ball long enough to do so.
Maybe we will try next week against the Giants too?

RE: why am I not concerned ?
Falcons are getting progressively worse, we played our best football in September and it shows. I was hoping by now that we would have really nailed down the passing game and become a well oiled machine but Ryan and co. look as out of sorts as they ever have. Regression doesn't bode well for our playoff hopes. This offense is designed to put up 30 a game because our D simply isn't that good but so far our D has over performed while our offense has underwhelmed. I keep seeing people saying this isn't 2010 or 2011 and that this team is different but from where I'm standing this looks like a clone of every other team Mike Smith has put on the field. Still no fire and terribly inconsistent.

RE: why am I not concerned ?
we shouldn't be "trying to figure things out" in the last 4 weeks of the season IMO. We know what we can and cannot do by now, nothing is going to change that, we are what we are, we need to play to our strengths and scheme around our weaknesses instead of the other way around.

More jaquizz; less turner; more no huddle; more screens; more deep ins and outs; more crossing routes; more deep routes.
The first half of the season saw these things even though they still didn't through it deep often enough for my tastes. This last half feels like Mularkey is calling the plays. |
