In the NFL a player is deemed down if he falls on the ground untouched but does not try to advance the ball forward any longer. It's called giving yourself up. There was a play just like it last year that the regular refs got right. The replacement refs got the call wrong.

You have to have the ball to not try and advance it. Mcluster did not have the ball, he clearly lost possession. It was a good call, Dan does not know everything, he was wrong. You can't give yourself up if you are not in possession of the football, he was not in possession of the football. As soon as his arm buckled, he fumbled.

His knee clearly hit the ground before he lost control of the ball. No he did not have the ball once his entire body was on the ground. But knee means down right?

At auburn yes, in the NFL no.
