RE: bottleneck
You can't even spell Tony Gonzalez's last name right. Sorry but for a guy who has been a vital part of our success and for you to butcher his name completely drops any weight your words carry.

RE: bottleneck
As another note, do you really think it is bad for a new receiver to come in and get training from TG?? JJ has stated he is watching how TG practices and is trying to learn the "little things" from all the successful people like him since he has been around at a high level so long. So just by having him here a viable part of the team, allows us to use him as a training tool, so the young guys can learn what it takes to be really good in the NFL. Personally after the fiasco of Roddy While early, I am all for an older mature and well known Pro-Bowler being on the team to mentor the young guys and help them make the transition from College to the Pros.

Not to mention the fact that of course his numbers are going to be much worse this year, because you now have, it seems, 3 viable WR, 2 pass catching RBs, to go along with him at TE.

Ignorance can be educated.....Stupidity is to the bone.

No, you won't. Glad to see you recognize your limitations.

RE: bottleneck
"Washed up" and "not quite what he used to be but still highly effective" are two totally different things. I don't think TG has a gun to Ryan's head forcing him to constantly throw at him.

RE: bottleneck
I think Gonzo has been fantastic for us. I know he has slowed down some, but still effective. But I was surprised to see the recent article (posted here under "What we got and what we didn't" or something like that) saying that Gonzo was so bad he was "painful to watch." I certainly didn't experience any pain watching him get us a first down or touch down on numerous occasions last year. Clearly, he's a lot slower than he used to be (as should be expected), but I don't get that quote.

RE: bottleneck
While he was slower last year and noticeably worse as a player, he's still in the upper echelon of TEs. Saying he was washed up in 2009 is absolutely ridiculous.

RE: bottleneck
Tony G is definitely not the player he was five years ago. I don't think anyone can deny that. Saying he's washed up is not accurate. Personally I think he's close to being done that many here seem to think he is but I don't think he's washed up. He can still get open and block which is what you want from a TE. He's not THE Tony Gonzalez any longer but he's still good enough to get the job done.
