I think if you look at Gonzalez's career you can easily be misled by just how great he was. He is still one of the 10 best TEs in the league. No TE puts up numbers like he used to. He was the go to guy in KC because they had absolutely no one else to throw to. Here he was a security blanket for Ryan. I don't think that's the issue anymore.

Ryan forced that ball, but in reality he shouldn't have thrown it. It was one of the first passes in the first preseason game after a very short TC. I wouldn't put any stock into it.

As for Jerry Rice in 2002 in oakland 92-1211-7 and they went to the Super Bowl. His second season 63-869-2. He was 42 years old. Not bad for washed up.

McKyer played 2 years with the Falcons and recorded 7 picks Not bad. He went on to play another 5 years even spending another 8 games in Atlanta later.

Mike Rozier washed up, when was he ever not after college? Eric Dickerson was just signed for depth and well Peerless Price well he was never that good. He had one really good year with Buffalo but other than that nothing to be excited about.

Gonzo is probably the 3rd option now but hes still a hell of a possession guy for us not to mention a monster in the redzone. Hes far from washed up. Julio will naturally draw some double teams just because of his size and explosiveness, which will help free up gonzo more often.

having been a big Gonzo fan here in KC, I know what he was here. He was option 1 and 2. In ATL he's the #2 or #3 guy (now that JJ is here). Honestly if you feel Gonzo is "washed" up because he's not putting 1000+ yards like he was in KC, it's hard to do that when you have a complete team like he does here.

Whatever else you say really doesn't do much to help your case unless you're going to be providing source to back it up.

Yeah it was only a second round pick and it seems lately the Falcons are NOT the Patriots South, giving up picks to move up, trade, whatever. So you yankee bastards can kiss my ass about all that bs.

Tony Gonzales is washed, was washed and is washed UP! He was washed up when the Falcons traded for his vegetarian ass. And this is what gets me about idiot NFL fans. Three years ago I said T.O. was washed up. Two years ago I said Moss was washed up. Last year I said Steve Smith IS washed up and guess what? They all be washed up. And O-coordinators continue to feature these ballerinas in tights.

This is where I'm going. In last night's game there were two occasions that Ryan forced the pass to Gonzales and one of them was nearly picked off. The past two seasons Tony has been great but sometimes Ryan forces the issue, whether it be called or Ryan being stubborn when Tony is well covered. Might be the case Ryan has no choice given the play called by Mularkey. We can always blame Mularkey ya know.

Logjam,...bottleneck,...whatever you wanna call it. After trading away two drafts for a WR, where is there room for an old vegan who can't block and looks like he's running in sand?

As long as Ryan is forcing passes in the direction of Gonzales, there will be no offensive success. The TE is to shock the defense catching passes after the WRs have been doing they stuff. I would go into detail but if you don't know, you never will.

the pass that was almost picked off was a throw to Turner, it looked like...Turner just didn't make a play on it...watch the play again, afterwards it looks like Ryan is pointing to Turner trying to say, "that was to you"

wow, gonzo is certainly not the player he once was, but even at his age, he's still at the very LEAST a top 7 TE in the league right now.
