Here's the recap of his kicks vs. Chicago and also tonight: M.Bosher kicks 69 yards from ATL 35 to CHI -4. D.Hester to CHI 27 for 31 yards (M.Bosher). PENALTY on ATL-O.Mughelli, Illegal Formation, 5 yards, enforced at ATL 35 - No Play. M.Bosher kicks 70 yards from ATL 30 to CHI 0. D.Hester to CHI 23 for 23 yards (J.Snelling). M.Bosher kicks 64 yards from ATL 35 to CHI 1. D.Hester to CHI 28 for 27 yards (O.Mughelli). PENALTY on CHI-C.Steltz, Offensive Holding, 8 yards, enforced at CHI 17. M.Bosher kicks 63 yards from ATL 35 to CHI 2. D.Hester pushed ob at CHI 24 for 22 yards (K.Biermann). PENALTY on CHI-C.Graham, Illegal Block Above the Waist, 8 yards, enforced at CHI 16. M.Bosher kicks 65 yards from ATL 35 to end zone, Touchback. M.Bosher kicks 64 yards from ATL 35 to PHI 1. D.Lewis to PHI 21 for 20 yards (K.Biermann; A.Dent). M.Bosher kicks 69 yards from ATL 35 to PHI -4. D.Lewis to PHI 16 for 20 yards (K.Biermann). M.Bosher kicks 66 yards from ATL 35 to PHI -1. D.Lewis to PHI 22 for 23 yards (K.Biermann; C.Owens). M.Bosher kicks 65 yards from ATL 35 to PHI 0. D.Lewis to PHI 30 for 30 yards (M.Bosher). M.Bosher kicks 70 yards from ATL 40 to end zone, Touchback. (this actually went through the uprights) M.Bosher kicks 68 yards from ATL 35 to PHI -3. D.Lewis pushed ob at ATL 40 for 63 yards (C.Owens). PENALTY on PHI-C.Anderson, Offensive Holding, 8 yards, enforced at PHI 17. 11 kickoffs. 1 was a do-over due to penalty but it was 4 yards deep in the endzone. 3 didn't make it into the endzone and were of course returned (but did make it to the 1 or 2 yard line) 7 went into the endzone. 5 were run out by the kick returner. 2 were touchbacks. Average field position = 20.2 Say what you will, but I think our coaching staff knows WTF they're doing. Very few teams have an average field position of 20 after kickoffs. |

RE: bosher
Punting the ball to DeSean had disaster written all over it. Sure he was nervous, but punters come and go. He's gotta step it up.

Yeah, after I saw him kick it through the uprights, I was like, WHY CAN'T HE DO THAT FOR EVERY KICK?!?" Then I calmed down and realized that Smitty is making him do that. But he really fucked up that one punt though. I sincerely hope that we don't have to punt from out of our own endzone again this season, just for GP, I'd practice more snaps inside there for Bosher's sake. He is a rookie, after all. "TOUCHDOWN! MY GOD, A TOUCHDOWN! WE THREW IT TO HAYNES! WE JUST STUFFED THEM WITH FIVE SECONDS LEFT! MY GOD ALMIGHTY, DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID? DAVID GREENE JUST STRAIGHTENED UP AND WE SNUCK THE FULLBACK OVER! … WE JUST STEPPED ON THEIR FACE WITH A HOBNAILED BOOT AND BROKE THEIR NOSE! WE JUST CRUSHED THEIR FACE!" - Larry Munson broadcast UGA vs Tenn, 2001 Rest In Peace, Larry. You will be missed. GO DAWGS! HUNKER DOWN! |

RE: bosher
In two games this team has committed
5 turnovers 18 penalties for 122 yards given up 9 sacks and averages 5.7 yards per offensive play. There are bigger problems than the rookie kicker. He'll come around. |

NFL network actually had a show last week or so that some of the guys talked about this, i think Mike Mayok actually was the one who talked about the trajectory tied in with no running start for the kicking team, and how it gives the returner more of a chance to bust a move and hit a hole. I'd much rather have an average starting position of the 14 yard line than the 20 yard line. Chew on THAT, Petunia!
