RE: Would You Hire This Guy?
Not that it is relevant to the point being made, but Sean Payton would be unemployed as a head coach today if he did not have Brees. I think this year the colts made it clear what happens when your entire team is built around a quarterback.

(01-16-2012 03:42 AM)Paulitik Wrote: Sean Payton getting hired to a team that had just fired Jim Haslett, spent the fall under Lake Ponchartrain and had no QB, is no comparison to what the Falcons just did. In 1998 as QB coach for the Eagles, Payton's team finished 30th in passing yards, 30th in passing TDs, 30th in scoring and 30th in total offense. No coach can overcome a shitty QB, no matter how much of a guru they are. As for the rest of your post, the state of the franchise is totally irrelevant to the discussion. Which "elite" coaches were available for the Saints to hire in 2006 had they been in position to do so? Which ones were available for the Falcons to hire in 2012? At the end of the day, everybody chooses the best available candidate. The Saints believed they did it then, just as the Falcons believe they have done it now. So, I'll turn this around on you: Convince me that Dirk Koetter can't turn our offense into one of the league's best. |

RE: Would You Hire This Guy?
Its funny that when presented with an idea that turns the complaining into a constant bitching and whining then it just becomes more bitching and whining...lol.
There has never been a such thing as "You know what coop u make a really good point. I still don't agree with the hire but I will wait and see because you make a good point." Instead we get more bitching and whining. Same reasons I left the AFMB unfortuantely. And to all the naysayers I actually don't agree with the hire, but I still don't see the harm in waiting and seeing and provoding support. Belicheck is another one that comes to my mind. I certainly don't know his stats before coming to the Pats but I know it wasn't good. Three lies people...three types of lies and the same people complaining keep bringing up 32nd ranked. I was a huge fan of Clements bc I think him being around that Packers offense could have refreshed his idea about how to play offense in this NFL. Butbhe's not here and Koetter gets my full support and I'm not waiting on him to fail to say I told you so or quit on the Falcons. |

RE: Would You Hire This Guy?
in my very first post after the hire, i stated while i didn't like it, he's one of us now. as already said in this thread, just because i didn't like the hire, it doesn't mean i won't be rooting for him to succeed.
i will say after reading some of his quotes/interviews, we should see the number of curl and stop routes almost disappear. imagine how many yards Ryan, White, TG, JJ and HD will get with routes designed for YAC. we've seen a few times this year what JJ can do if he gets the ball in stride. i'm hoping we see a LOT more of those types plays. according to Dirks words, this is what he likes to do. now we just have GOT to build an offensive line. if we don't do that, it wouldn't matter if we had Bill Walsh himself Chew on THAT, Petunia!
