There's nothing wrong with wanting to stretch the field, but a one-dimensional offense is easy to stop no matter which dimension you choose to emphasize.

Your right, we have to be balanced. It's a lot easier to stop what you know is coming, than having to play a guessing game.

Our offensive line is in shambles and we gave up 5 picks for a WR that we only target a few times a game.. I like Julio and I think he'll do tremendous things for our offense but maybe this wasn't the year to make a move like this. This team is going away from what made them successful in the first place and I think we'll take a step back because of it.
If you think he'll be successful and do tremendous things, why would you not make the move? Our regression has nothing to do with this year's draft. Hypothetically if we didn't do the trade, how would that have affected what we have on the offensive line? I don't think we would have went OL with the 27th pick, and what day-one starting lineman was there late in the 2nd? We should have addressed the offensive line a hell of a lot more in last year's free agency, but I don't see how you could bring up the guy who just had a 115 receiving yards as a reason we are "going away" from success.

Because Baker was a big problem for this team last year and he's still a big problem for this team now... There were 2 Olinemen still on the board at 27 that Falcons could've taken that were taken at 29 by the Bears and 32 by the Packers.

Oh and I'll trade those 115 yards for a win anyday.. But that's just me.

We run so well out of the no huddle. We can even control the clock. Just run it the whole game. See what happens. Even our D plays better when they come out and the No huddle has been successful.

Look the Bills rode the no huddle to 4 Super Bowls in the 90's. Peyton rides it to 10-12 wins every year. If we can wear down a defense for 3 quarters with it then we can break out the run.

Note we were terrible on the ground today and we lost. Teams win with balance. The Falcons more so than others.

So you take Carimi at 27 instead of trading for Julio? Carimi has been very average (think Baker his rookie year) and now might be out for awhile with an injury (see link below). If we take him, then we're right back to square one only WITHOUT a number 2 receiver. As for the 32nd pick Derek Sherrod, he's pulled a Robert Gallery and shifted to left guard and is now backing up TJ Lang. Not necessarily a bad thing, but certainly not a huge factor on why we shouldn't have traded up for one of the few bright spots on our team yesterday.

And yes, I'll take a win over Julio's game also, but this provides nothing as to how in the hell we could have won if we didn't do the Julio trade. No offensive lineman in this year's draft (at where we were at) would have been a solid immediate replacement for Baker, and we needed another solid option for Ryan. Julio is going to go down as an elite wide receiver, mark my words.
