RE: Who stays and who is gone
I think Dunta might get cut. I think Nolan will have a huge impact on that. I'm sick of Dunta try to knock himself out on every play. Every time I see him hit someone I think of this scene from the movie Major League 2. I can't find the video clip of it but here's the line.

Quote:So, Hiroshi "Kamikaze" Tanaka, recently of the Tokyo Giants, knocks himself cold for the second time this week. Maybe in Japan, that's actually better than catching the ball. Personally, I think he's just trying to get out of the lineup.

RE: Who stays and who is gone
I think we first need to consider every player we have that is slated to become a free agent.

Tony Gonzalez - TE - UFA
Brent Grimes - CB - UFA
Will Svitek - T - UFA
Sam Baker - T - UFA
Mike Cox - FB - UFA
Dominique Franks - CB - UFA
Chris Hope - S - UFA
Robert McClain - CB - RFA
Todd McClure - C - UFA
Luke McCown - QB - UFA
William Moore - S - UFA
Christopher Owens - CB - UFA
Michael Palmer - TE - RFA
Mike Peterson - LB - UFA
Garrett Reynolds - T - UFA
Lawrence Sidbury - DE - UFA
Antone Smith - RB - RFA
Vance Walker - DT - UFA

Here's what i believe we'll do with the players on this list:

Who is likely to retire:
Tony Gonzalez
Todd McClure (If he doesn't retire, he should not be resigned)

Who should we resign:
Sam Baker
William Moore
Robert McClain
Christopher Owens
Vance Walker
Michael Palmer
Antone Smith

Who should we let walk:
Brent Grime
Will Svitek
Mike Cox
Dominique Franks
Chris Hope
Luke McCown
Mike Peterson
Garrett Reynolds
Lawernce Sidbury

On top of that here is a few other moves I believe we should make.

Who should we get rid of:
Michael Turner

Who should we restructure:
Matt Ryan (1 year left, $10m cap hit in 2013)
Roddy White (2 years left, $9.325m cap hit in 2013)
Dunta Robinson (3 years left, $10.4m cap hit in 2013)
Jonathan Babineaux (1 year left, $4.7m cap hit in 2013)

I agree with most everything you said. But a couple of thoughts.

Matt Ryan is going to get a completely new contract. We have no idea what to expect this deal to be.

I seriously think Robinson could get cut.

I think we should bring back both Svitek and Reynolds.

I don't think cutting Robinson is an option for a couple of reasons. 1) His performance hasn't been bad enough to warrant cutting him. 2) Unless we do resign Grimes, we'll have a hole somewhere in the secondary. 3) Robinson would count for around $5.8 million against the cap if he were cut, and we simply don't have the money to throw around next season.

Take a look at these future salary cap projections. Money is going to become a major issue for all teams if this comes true.

He doesn't do a whole lot of good to us if he's out because of concussions which he will continue to get as long as he continues to use himself as a human torpedo.

Only reason why Dunta is back is we don't want to eat, the cap causality if we drop him.

I agree with these.

But I also think, Peria Jerry is gone, Lawrence Sidbury is gone, and watching John Abraham the other night on the news, you could just tell, he's not positive he's coming back.

One person if they could sign, is that safety Hope, he was a good backup for either Decoud or Moore. Especially if they could get him on the cheap. Wink

Jerry is a bust, Sidbury is a Bust and that period is over with, we need those spots for new people. Its just time. Wink

Mike Nolan said those prophetic words before the game, I'm not sure I can win this game with this personnel we have, also he said, he wished he didn't pick so damn good with the 49ers. lol

But it is prophetic, their going to have to cut some, and a minor clean house, also shows the others, the old NFL meaning = Not for Long. Wink

RE: Who stays and who is gone
Easier solution....Sign Grimes at a discount....no one is going to pay him like a top CB coming off that injury......not saying he will be cheap just that we could lock him up for 3-4 years for a more reasonable number now.

Get Dunta to take a pay cut......the guy wants to be here....say look you are performing well, but in order to get better we need to have money to help you out.....If you can't take a pay cut we will have to let you go.....

Cut Turner.....too expensive, got a DUI that we cause a suspension......There are others who can feel his position....

i don't have time to go into the rest right now as it is late....I will post more later....

I think if you do the first 2 (if grimes isn't reasonable let him walk.....I think Grimes is a better pure defneder than Dunat....I would let Dunta walk before grimes...and we have an opportunity with him coming off injury.

McClure I thought had said something about another run because it just can't end that way....could be wrong there!
