I'll be ecstatic if I'm wrong but I doubt I am.

Why the hell even be a fan if you can't handle a loss?

This is an honest question. I simply can not grasp the mindset it takes to have a negative view of our team and still call yourself one of the "faithful". Its one thing to say we have flaws. Its a totally different thing to say we are a terrible team and will not have a winning season after only playing THREE games. Look at the competition. Look at what we are doing with our offense. If you can't view a team with a longterm perspective you will ALWAYS be disappointed no matter what happens during the course of the season.

The same way you can be disapppointed in your child but still love them

Quite frankly I just don't understand where stating your honest opinion on how you feel about the team somehow makes you less of a fan. Never did. I keep it real...at least as real as I seem to think it is. Going into the season I thought we were a contender. The fact that I was positive though doesn't mean I was more of a fan. With every sports team I root for I'm honest with myself and after 3 games I honestly don't see this team turning it around and making the playoffs. Doesn't mean I've stopped rooting for them! I don't even see how someone makes that connection.

If I see a shitty team week after week I'm gonna call a spade a spade. Sure teams lose games but with what I'm seeing from this team there is no way they're making a SuperBowl run. Things could change, I hope they do...but I doubt it. That doesn't make me any less of a fan. It makes me a realist.

We get the worst penalties at the worst times. Missed assignments and bad tackling and dropped passes. We just didn't do these things last year.

On the plus side we have outscored teams 30-0 in the 4th quarter this year. If we could expand that to the other 3 we would be unstoppable.

Just a metaphor, I wasn't literally talking about which way a ball bounces, but your right, were simply not doing the good things we did last year. I don't know if it was the strike or the one a day workouts or what it was, it just seems like were so lost out there.

Apples and oranges. Comparing love for a franchise to the love for your children is ludicrous.

Your definition of realism and my definition are two totally different things. Its best to just leave it at that. Wink

RE: We went from Excellent to Mediocre in 1 off-season. Here's how:
Basically, our offensive line has been exposed.

McClure is coming back from injury, and Hawley was a first time starter who was put in a bad position do to no real off-season.
Dahl is an above average RG, and the drop off from him to Reynolds, another first time starter, has been painful.
Baker is as bad as ever, and seems to just get worse and worse as games go past.

We went from a middle of the pack offensive line to bottom tier do to these factors. No offense in the league can succeed when the defense can rush 3 or 4 and get to the QB as consistently as they have been.

I guess bro, but I can't see how anyone can look at this team over the past 4 games and say we're a playoff time.

I don't think anybody is going to remember the 13-3 Falcons from last season as being better than the 10-6 Packers.

RE: We went from Excellent to Mediocre in 1 off-season. Here's how:
We need interior run blocking. Sam Baker can't pass block, but he CAN run block. Swing Baker inside to guard, swap Clabo to LT, and put Reynolds at RT. Bada-bing!

No. It's not that easy to move guys around like that. There already bad and moving the around would likely make them worse.
