They won close games because they made a few clutch plays and made way less mistakes than opponents. Peyton, there might be some truth to that, but I don't think that's completely correct. Look at how handily we beat Baltimore last year. We dominated them the whole game (even though it was close in the end). There were stretches in almost every game where we dominated. I haven't seen any dominance from us this year. I see a mediocre team that is scrappy. We've got "Any given Sunday" going for us, but that's about it. |

I don't recall them running one sweep today - except for that failed reverse. Everything up the middle...

Right again, there were many very close games last year that could have gone either way, but fortunately most of the bounces went our way. Givin the same circumstances, some of those balls are bound to bounce thier way. Most of the 2nd half our OL blocked much better and perhaps thats a good sign, but I can't help to think what would have happened if we played the Saints or a team of thier caliber today. Honestly, if Vick hadn't went out with an injury last week, we may very well be 0 and 3. It's still early. |

Ryan has 8 turnovers this year through 3 games. We get the worst penalties at the worst times. Missed assignments and bad tackling and dropped passes. We just didn't do these things last year. On the plus side we have outscored teams 30-0 in the 4th quarter this year. If we could expand that to the other 3 we would be unstoppable. |

RE: Falcons: We went from Excellent to Mediocre in 1 off-season. Here's how:
I dont get why ppl say "We are not as good as our record last year" .. We beat those teams.... The Packers barely made the playoffs.
The answer is.... Every year is a new year.... No team will lay down because of what you did last year...I dont think we ignored our O-Line... Reynolds has been in our system developing... The coaching staff felt like he was their guy after developing him for a couple of years.... Ive always thought our line was over-rated... They were solid but not as good as most think... Ryan helped our O-Line out alot... Ive always said that.... The short passing game we had helped them also... Even when Ryan wasnt getting sacked dude got hit ALOT (previous years).... The difference is the sacks now because we are running deeper routes and Reynolds is a lil down grade from Dahl but Dahl was just ok in pass coverage... But the problem again is not just Matt Ryan or our weapons.... Why does the O-Line work better in the no huddle offense also. We suppose to won this game tho.... I dont think we should be in panic mode but i do think we have stuff to fix... Superbowl shouldnt even be in our players mind right now... ![]()

Every year is its own animal. People forget that you can go from worst to first and back with little changing based on your mindset and momentum. That said we will be fine.
Look at the Steelers... from ALMOST winning the SB to the crap they are playing this year. I'd rather be in our position than theirs, because I think our problems are fixable and that we will be there in the end. Formerly SBC Falcon

Did you really just say we are mediocre now? Really?
I think you are mistaken and it is typical for the naysayers to come out in droves after a loss. I am not saying youre one of "those" guys, I am simply saying that you are exaggerating your point due to a tough loss. If you evaluate our team fairly, there is no fucking way in hell you can call us mediocre. Mediocre is middle of the pack and missing the playoffs. Mediocre is an 8-8 season. Are you honestly ready to predict that we only win seven more games this season? That is basically what you are saying and I think its bullshit. |

RE: We went from Excellent to Mediocre in 1 off-season. Here's how:
Peyton is exactly right. We didn't change much this off-season. So, either Dahl and Ja98 were extremely important or the luck and breaks received last year have run.
Last year : Couldn't stop PowerBacks, big Tightens, or Quick WR's Offense still goes as Turner goes. Ryan still relies on 2 receivers a game Secondary still looks lost at times Smith BVG and Mularkey don't adjust well. |

We are always as good as our record cause that is actually the only measuring stick of how good a team is. We looked alot better last year even in our losses. The o-line and special teams have caused a huge domino effect that makes us play like a horrible college team |

I know some posters feel like you can only be a fan if you're being positive but I call it like I see it. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but after 3 weeks I see this team being a major disappointment. I'll be ecstatic if I'm wrong but I doubt I am. |
