I think the reason some are upset is misunderstood. He is correct about our history but did he really have to say it there? Can he congratulate Mike Smith without having a bitch slapping the franchise in the same comment. Now if he would have said "The Falcons history has been bad and Mike Smith getting to 50 wins this quickly and with this franchise shows you how good of a Head Coach Mike Smith is and that the present and future is on the rise for Arthur Blank and this Falcons franchise." See the major difference. There's a way to say things. |

Thing is, 14 teams have never won a SB, and they do not get disrespected like we do all the time. Tired of pundits kicking us around for no apparent reason. Somehow I think even if we won a SB it would be about the other team LOSING and not us WINNING, |

Same was said about the Pats after they beat the Rams in the super bowl. The Rams were highly favored but the Pats beat them. There was no way the Rams lose to the New England Patriots and their young QB. The Rams did themselves in. It took another SB and a few steller seasons before the press caught on. Once we win on all I'll care about is the fact we won. The pundits can go fuck themselves for all I care. |

Yeah because in 2002 the Patriots revered back to 7-9 and everyone was like ok 2001 was a fluke. ![]()

I like watching First Take on ESPN with Skip and Stephen A Smith and just today when they were talking about the Falcons they said the same thing: overrated from Skip and Smith said he needs to see them win in the playoffs to believe in them. And I can't honestly disagree with what Smith said. We DO need to win in the playoffs. You can't ask for respect based on regular season wins. You get respect by winning rings or at least winning consistently in the playoffs.

RE: Way to go Peter King
Look what this ball bag from CBSSports.com wrote. Weekly Grades.
Atlanta Falcons C- Matt Ryan threw three picks, two of which were inexcusable and the rushing attack didn't even exist on Sunday. But the defense was the big concern: they got gashed by Oakland most of the day. Were it not for an Asante Samuel pick-six, they lose this game. 6-0 is great, but they've used up "divisional rivalry," "tough road game" and "trap game" as their excuses the last three weeks. Oakland Raiders C+ An absolutely crippling loss for a Raiders team that was supposed to get blown out in Atlanta. Darren McFadden ran the ball well, Carson Palmer looked good most of the day, Denarius Moore had a mini-breakout and the defense did a good job of pressuring Matt Ryan. What a back-breaking interception from Palmer. |

For what it's worth, the pre game CBS guys were very complimentary to the Falcons. Cowher even said he sees the Falcons going to the Super Bowl. After the game Marino said "good teams find ways to win and that's what the Falcons just did".
Maybe they are less biased because they mainly cover the AFC, but anyway it was refreshing. |

RE: Way to go Peter King
The thing that kills me is, every team every year is different. Some elements may be the same, but each team is different.
Giving a team grief because of what they haven't done in the playoffs makes no sense. Teams can only handle what they have in front of them... in this case regular season, which we are undefeated in. Our coordinators have never lost a playoff game with us. Asante has never lost a playoff game with us. Our draft picks have never lost a playoff game with us. The 2012 Falcons have never lost a playoff game. Judging this year's team on playoff wins is as ridiculous as judging them on drop-kick field goals made. "I can't respect them until I see 4 drop-kick field goals made" is essentially what Stephen A Smith should have been saying. You judge teams on what they have done, not what they may or may not do in the future. We are just the current LeBron-Syndrome victim. No matter what we do, no one will care until it gets us a ring, and then they will still complain. Formerly SBC Falcon
